方案摘要

概述:

The world-leading inVia Raman microscope has just become even more versatile. Renishaw plc and Smiths Detection (Danbury, CT) have teamed up to produce a single instrument capable of collecting same-location Raman and infrared spectral data. The Smiths Detection IlluminatIR II infrared microprobe can be added as a powerful accessory to any of Renishaw’s Raman microscopes.

Raman spectroscopy and Infrared spectroscopy probe molecular vibrations. Their mutually exclusive selection rules make their combined use complementary and very powerful. There are many benefits this combination provides to the user and these are discussed in this application note, illustrated using a complex paint chip example.

结论:

The ability to use Raman and FT-IR analysis methods on the same instrument is of paramount importance where complementary information of complex samples is necessary. In the real case paint smear sample discussed, the Raman information allows unequivocal pigment identification, and the FT-IR identification of the lacquer and binder components. Analysis is performed at the same sample location, and avoids time consuming sample transfer and positional referencing. Multiple and independent analysis methods therefore provide the highest identification confidence.
