ARIS – Electrophysiology Workstation

ARIS is a multifunctional hardware solution for extracellular recording. It was designed with compactness and utility in mind to offer the researchers a powerful electronic tool.

ARIS offers a state-of-the-art workstation for in-vivo electrophysiology.

 

All in one

  • Amplification, conditioning and acquisition of neuronal signals

  • Programmable current stimulus generator

  • Impedance measurement module

ARIS perfectly integrates in a computerized laboratory setting, and can also be used only as a companion tool in a hardware-exclusive recording or stimulation arrangement. Accordingly, it offers two independent operation modes: PC-Control and Manual.

ARIS incorporates even the preamplifier module and connects directly to a laptop or desktop computer.

Computer controlled electrophysiology research

This equipment was designed especially for optimal amplification and acquisition of extracellular neuronal signals: single-unit potentials (2 channels) and local field potentials (2 channels). The integrated data card ensures full computer control: channel selection, switching of operation modes (recording, stimulation, impedance), programmable generation of stimulus waveforms of amplitudes up to 1mA @ 250V.

Clean signal

The differential input recording channels were designed with care to guarantee maximal immunity to environmental noise. The steep response of the 4th order low-pass and high-pass filters were optimally pre-tuned to ensure a virtually hands-free operation.

Direct impedance test

Measurement of microelectrode impedances up to 2MW is realized on-the-fly based on the voltage feedback of the 1nA sinusoidal signal sent to the preparation.

Computer controlled stimulation current

The stimulation current is precisely generated by the data card with no additional processing burden on the connected computer. Repetitive current pulse trains or lesioning/marking constant current are supported.

No cable reconnection

ARIS is capable of no-electrode-touch switching of operation modes: recording, stimulation, impedance testing. That is, the same preparation cable remains in place during the entire experiment.
