Adenosyl Homocysteine antibody
Cat.#: 3306-1
Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody
Clone ID: EPR4499
Swiss Prot: n/a
Mol Weight: n/a
Size: 100ul

Description
S-Adenosyl-L-homocysteine is an amino acid derivative used in several metabolic pathways in most organisms. It is an intermediate in the synthesis of cysteine. S-adenosylhomocysteine (SAH) is the product of most methlyltransferase reactions that are carried out in living organisms with S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) as the methyl donor. It also is the metabolic precursor of homocysteine (Hcy) which has been identified as a risk factor for vascular disease in many studies (1). It may play a key role in the regulation of the intracellular concentration of adenosylhomocysteine. Studies have shown that plasma SAH is a more sensitive indicator of risk for cardiovascular disease (2) and for renal disease than plasma Hcy (3).

Recommended Applications
ELISA

Applications and Recommended Dilution Factors
ELISA: 1:5000

Products Data

Competitive ELISA: 0.1 ug/ml of BSA-SAH was coated into 96-wells. Serial dilution of SAH, SAMe, et al. and 0.05 ug/ml of anti-SAH antibody (cat#3306-1) were added. HRP conjugated goat anti-rabbit IgG antibody was used to develop the color.

This antibody shows the following reactivities with related compounds:
S-(5′-Adenosyl)-L-homocysteine: 100%
S-(5′-Adenosyl)-L-methionine: 0
Adenosine: 4.4%
Homocysteine: 4.4%
Cystathionine: 0
L-Cysteine: 1.5%
Glutathione: 1.8%

Specificity
S-(5′-Adenosyl)-L-homocysteine conjugated to Keyhole Limpet Haemocyanin was used as immunogen.

Storage Condition and Buffer
Store at -20 °C. Buffer: 50 mM Tris-Glycine (pH 7.4), 0.15 M NaCl, 40% Glycerol, 0.01% sodium azide and 0.05% BSA. Stable for 12 months from date of receipt.
