1.1 This specification defines performance requirements for helmets used in nonmotorized recreational snow sports (such as skiing, snowboarding, and other alpine sports). This specification is a performance standard and is not intended to restrict design. Although a helmet that meets this specification will help reduce the risk of some types of injuries to the head at slower speeds, the protection is limited. The user is responsible for participating in the sport within his/her abilities and the nature of the snow conditions which may vary widely. Compliance with the common sense rules of the sport’s safety, including any applicable responsibility codes, is essential to help reduce the risk of personal injury. 1.2 All testing and requirements of this specification shall be in accordance with Test Methods F1446, except where noted herein. 1.3 Partial utilization of this specification is prohibited. Any statement of compliance with this specification shall be a certification that the product meets all of the requirements of the specification in its entirety. A product that fails to meet any one of the requirements of this specification is considered to have failed the standard and should not be sold with any indication that it meets parts of the standard. 1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

1.1 This specification covers eye protectors, exclusive of helmet-mounted visors, designed for use by riders of motorcycles, mopeds, and snowmobiles for off road use that minimize or significantly reduce injury to the eye and adnexa as a result of impact and penetration by objects that may be kicked up from the road, track, trail, or snow surfaces and made airborne and, as such, likely to cause eye discomfort or injury. This specification does not address shield-type eye protectors such as are connected to, integral to, and/or supported by protective helmets. Protective eyewear offers protection only to the eyes and does not protect other parts of the head, face, or neck. 1.2 Protectors are divided into two types, goggles or spectacles, depending on their design characteristics. 1.3 This specification does not apply to prescription eyewear. (Warning—Impact-resistant prescription spectacles that conform to the standard specifications of ANSI Z87.1 should be used if spectacles are to be worn under goggle-type eyewear as covered by this specification.) 1.4 In this specification, the use of the word “shall” indicates a mandatory requirement. The word “should” indicates a recommendation. 1.5 Units—The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only. Metric units of measure in this specification are in accordance with the International System of Units (SI). If a value for measurement as given in this specification is followed by an equivalent value in other units, the first stated is to be regarded as the requirement. A given equivalent value may be approximate. 1.6 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.7 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

1.1 This specification defines performance requirements for headgear used for participation in the sport of soccer. The technical requirements in this specification do not address the administrative requirements of soccer governing bodies, so it should not be assumed that any headgear satisfying this specification will be acceptable for use in sanctioned soccer events. 1.2 This specification is intended to reduce the forces from external physical sources reaching the defined impact area of the head in impacts that may occur in the sport of soccer. No headgear can provide protection against all impacts, foreseeable or not. This specification does not address the potential for injury from any type of impact. The tests specified in this specification are laboratory simulation tests only, and do not purport to create situations identical to the impacts that may occur during the playing of soccer. 1.3 All testing and requirements of this specification shall be in accordance with Test Methods F1446, except where noted herein. In the event of a discrepancy between the requirements of this specification and those of Test Methods F1446, this specification shall prevail. 1.4 Partial utilization of this specification is prohibited. Any statement of compliance with this specification shall be a certification that the headgear meets all of the requirements of this specification in its entirety. Headgear that fails to meet any one of the requirements of this specification is considered to have failed the specification and should not be sold with any indication that it meets parts of the specification. 1.5 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard.

1.1 This test method and product specification is used to measure the arc rating and specify the requirements for products intended for use as eye or face protection for workers exposed to electric arcs that would generate heat flux values from 84 to 25 120 kW ⁄m2 [2 to 600 cal/cm2 s]. Products are tested as sold. 1.2 This test method determines an arc rating for eye or face protective products. The faceshield, safety spectacle, goggle or or other applicable portions of the complete product must meet ANSI Z87.1. This excludes the textile or non ANSI Z87.1 testable parts of the hood assemblies or other tested products. This standard does not measure optical and impact properties (see ANSI Z87.1) but does specify requirements for optical and impact properties. 1.3 The materials covered by this standard are in the form of faceshields attached to the head by protective helmets (hard hats), headgear, hood assemblies, safety spectacles or goggles. Faceshields, safety spectacles or goggles are tested with or without other face and head protective products, for example, sock hoods, balaclavas, sweat shirt hoods or jacket hoods. 1.3.1 Fabric layers used in hood assemblies or other items tested under this standard shall meet the requirements of Specification F1506. 1.4 This test method shall be used to measure and describe the properties of materials, products, or assemblies in response to convective and radiant energy generated by an electric arc under controlled laboratory conditions and does not purport to predict damage from light other than the thermal aspects measured. 1.5 The values stated in SI units shall be regarded as standard except as noted. Within the text, alternate units are shown in brackets. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, alternate systems must be used independently of the other. Combining values from the systems described in the text may result in nonconformance with the method. 1.6 This standard does not purport to describe or appraise the effect of the electric arc fragmentation explosion and subsequent molten metal splatter, which involves the pressure wave containing molten metals and possible fragments of other materials except to the extent that heat energy transmission due to these arc explosion phenomena is reduced by test specimens. 1.7 This standard shall not be used to describe or appraise the fire hazard or fire risk of materials, products, or assemblies under actual fire conditions. However, results of this test may be used as elements of a fire assessment which takes into account all of the factors which are pertinent to an assessment of the fire hazard of a particular end use. 1.8 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.For specific precautions, see Section 7. 1.9 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

This European Standard applies to eye-protectors used for protection against accidental exposure to laser radiation as defined in EN 60825-1:2007 in the spectral range 180 nm (0,18 µm) to 1000 µm. It defines the requirements, test methods and marking. A guide is given in the informative Annex B for the selection and use of laser eye-protectors and filters in appliances. This European Standard does not apply to protectors for intentional exposure to laser radiation. EN 208 applies to laser adjustment eye-protectors. Before selecting eye protection according to this European Standard, a risk assessment should first be undertaken.
