1.1 This specification describes requirements and test methods for the qualification of plastic bodied mechanical fittings for use with outside diameter controlled polyethylene (PE) gas distribution pipe, nominal 2 pipe size (IPS) and smaller complying with Specification D2513. This standard describes Pressure Class 150 polyvinyl chloride (PVC) injection-molded fittings with push-on rubber-gasketed joints in nominal sizes 4 in. (100 mm), to 12 in. (300 mm). The fittings are for use with PVC water distribution pipe having an outside diameter conforming to the dimensions of cast-iron pipe, and with dimension ratios (DR) of 18 (Class 150) or 25 (Class 100) as described in ANSI/AWWA C900, Standard for Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Pressure Pipe and Fabricated Fittings, 4 in. through 12 in., (100 mm through 300 mm) for Water Distribution.

1.1 This specification covers poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) Schedule 80 pipe fittings. Included are requirements for materials, workmanship, dimensions, and burst pressure. Note 18212;CPVC plastic pipe fittings, which were formerly included in this standard, are now covered in Specification F 439. 1.2 The products covered by this specification are intended for use with the distribution of pressurized liquids only, which are chemically compatible with the piping materials.
