This document specifies the procedures for flushing particulate contamination from the hydraulic lines and components of hydraulic fluid power systems which is: — residual in the components after manufacture; — introduced into the system during the assembly of a new system; or — introduced into the system after system failure, maintenance or modification of an existing system. The aim of flushing the system is to quickly remove this contamination to reduce the amount of wear and damage that results if these particles are allowed to circulate around the system. This document is not applicable to: — the chemical cleaning and pickling of hydraulic tubes; — the cleaning of major system components (this is covered in ISO/TR 10949).

1.1 This specification covers nominal wall thickness, seamless, cold-drawn carbon steel tubing intended for use in hydraulic systems and in other similar applications where forming operations require tight radius bending and flaring. 1.2 Tubing sizes and thicknesses usually furnished to this specification are 1⁄8 to 31⁄2 in. [3.2 to 88.9 mm] in outside diameter and 0.035 to 0.134 in. [0.9 to 3.4 mm] inclusive, in nominal wall thickness. Tubing having other dimensions may be furnished, provided such tubing complies with all other requirements of this specification. 1.3 Mechanical property requirements do not apply to tubing smaller than 1⁄8 in. [3.2 mm] in inside diameter or 0.015 in. [0.4 mm] in thickness. 1.4 Optional supplementary requirements are provided and, when desired, shall be so stated in the order. 1.5 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text, the SI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. 1.1 This specification establishes the performance characteristics required for Metallic Press-Connect Fittings for use in piping and tubing systems with a maximum allowable working pressure of three-hundred pounds per square inch (300 psi) [2.07 MPa]. These fittings directly attach to pipe or tube by mechanical deformation of the pipe or tube or fitting, or a combination thereof, creating a seal and a restrained joint. The seal may be created via the mechanical deformation (of the pipe, tube or fitting) or created independently. Successful completion of the tests described herein constitutes completion of the technical portion of the qualification process. 1.2 The tests specified are applicable only to ascertain the performance characteristics. These tests are not intended for use in the evaluation of non-Press-Connect Fittings. 1.3 Refer to IACS UR P2.7.4, Table-7 for Metallic Press-Connect Fittings applications. 1.4 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard.
