1   Scope This document specifies the general requirements and tests for safety devices for fuel gases and oxygen or compressed air which do not incorporate a flame (flashback) arrestor used downstream of manifold, cylinder and/or pipeline outlet regulators, and upstream of blowpipes for welding, cutting and allied processes. This document does not specify the location of these devices in the gas system. This document is not applicable to safety devices which incorporate a flame arrestor, covered by ISO 5175‑1.

This document applies to acetylene cylinder manifold systems extending from the cylinder valve or the bundle outlet connections to the outlet connection of the main shut-off valve. It specifies requirements for design, materials and testing of cylinder manifold systems for the supply of acetylene for use in welding, cutting and allied processes. This document applies to acetylene cylinder manifold systems in which acetylene single cylinders or acetylene bundles are coupled for collective gas withdrawal. NOTE National regulations exist regarding limitation of the amount of single cylinders/bundles of acetylene on a single location (e.g. in warehouse or connected to a manifold system). This document also covers a test procedure for decomposition blockers.

This Standard specifies requirements for Bourdon-tube pressure gauges normally used with compressed gases at pressures up to 30 MPa (300 bar) in welding, cutting and allied processes. It also covers use for dissolved acetylene and for liquefied gases under pressure. It does not cover gauges for acetylene in acetylene manufacturing plants.

"This part of IEC 62822 applies to equipment for resistance welding and allied processes designed for occupational use by professionals and for use by laymen. NOTE 1 Typical allied processes are resistance hard and soft soldering or resistance heating achieved by means comparable to resistance welding equipment. This document specifies procedures for the assessment of human exposure to magnetic fields produced by resistance welding equipment. It covers non-thermal biological effects in the frequency range from 0 Hz to 10 MHz and defines standardized test scenarios. NOTE 2 The general term ""field"" is used throughout this document for ""magnetic field"". NOTE 3 For the assessment of exposure to electric fields and thermal effects@ the methods specified in the Generic Standard IEC 62311 or relevant basic standards apply. This document does not define methods for workplace assessment regarding the risks arising from electromagnetic fields (EMF). However@ the EMF data that results from the application of this Basic Standard can be used to assist in workplace assessment. Other standards can apply to products covered by this document. In particular this document cannot be used to demonstrate electromagnetic compatibility with other equipment. It does not specify any product safety requirements other than those specifically related to human exposure to electromagnetic fields. This document focuses on the use of coupling coefficients to assess the exposure to EMF."

This part of IEC 60974 is applicable to power sources for arc welding and allied processes designed for industrial and professional use, and supplied by a voltage not exceeding 1000 V, battery supplied or driven by mechanical means. This document specifies safety and performance requirements of welding power sources and plasma cutting systems. This document is not applicable to limited duty arc welding and cutting power sources which are designed mainly for use by laymen and designed in accordance with IEC 60974-6. This document includes requirements for battery-powered welding power sources and battery packs, which are given in Annex O. This document is not applicable to testing of power sources during periodic maintenance or after repair. NOTE 1 Typical allied processes are electric arc cutting and arc spraying.
