What is BS EN 62717‒ LED modules for general lighting about?    This International Standard specifies the performance requirements for LED modules, together with the test methods and conditions, required to show compliance with this standard. The following types of LED modules are defined; Type 1: Integrated LED Modules for use on d.c supplies up to 250V, or a.c supplies up to 1000V at 50 or 60Hz Type 2: LED module operating with part of separate controlgear connected to the mains and having further control inside (semi-integrated) for operation under constant voltage, constant current, or constant power. Type 3: LED modules where the complete controlgear is separate from the module (non-integrated) for operation under constant voltage, constant current, or constant power. This standard covers LED modules based on inorganic technology that produce white light. The requirements of this standard relate only to type testing. The IEC 62386 series specifies a bus system for control by digital signals of electronic lighting equipment. This part of IEC 62386 applies to a system with wireless or alternative wired communication between its units@ instead of a wired bus system@ where the meaning of ??wireless or alternative wired communication??@ or in short ??telecommunication??@ is any type of communication network different from the wired system described in IEC 62386-101. This International Standard specifies the performance requirements for LED modules@ together with the test methods and conditions@ required to show compliance with this standard. The following types of LED modules are distinguished and schematically shown in Figure 1: Type 1: integrated LED modules for use on d.c. supplies up to 250 V or on a.c. supplies up to 1 000 V at 50 Hz or 60 Hz. Type 2: LED modules operating with part of separate controlgear connected to the mains voltage@ and having further control means inside (??semi-integrated??) for operation under constant voltage@ constant current or constant power. Type 3: LED modules where the complete controlgear is separate from the module (nonintegrated) for operation under constant voltage@ constant current or constant power. The power supply of the controlgear for semi-ballasted LED modules (Type 2) is an electronic device capable of controlling currents@ voltage or power within design limits. The control unit of the controlgear for semi-ballasted LED modules (Type 2) is an electronic device to control the electrical energy to the LEDs. A LED module with separate controlgear can be either a non-ballasted LED module or a semi-ballasted LED module.

What is this standard about? This part of IEC 62707 specifies general requirements, a grid and a corresponding code for the colour binning of white LED packages emitting incoherent, visible radiation. It applies for LED packages intended for automotive applications. Other parts of the IEC 62707 series covering chromaticity of coloured LED packages, luminous flux/luminous intensity, colour rendering and forward voltage are in preparation or under consideration. NOTE 1 This International Standard does not apply for LED modules, LED lamps and LED luminaires. NOTE 2 Even though the words "white light" are used, the purpose of this International Standard is not to define "white light", but to specify a grid and a corresponding colour code for the colour binning of white LED packages emitting incoherent, visible radiation. The area covered by the grid may differ from the definition of white light given in other standards or regulations.
