This publication contains the Rules of Procedure for the IECQ Scheme for LED Component Products Certification, which also includes other Solid-State Lighting (SSL) technologies. While this document refers to the IECQ Scheme for LED Component Products, it is intended that it includes other types of SSL technologies, including LED and OLED, from here on throughout the document referred to as LED lighting. NOTE LED is a technology and OLED is another. Perhaps in the future "PLED" may be common, i.e. a plastic or "printed LED". The IECQ Scheme for LED Component Products covers electronic components, associated materials and assemblies (including modules) for use within SSL application. These IECQ Scheme for LED Component Products Rules of Procedure are to be used in conjunction with applicable IECQ System management Basic Rules (IEC CA 01, IECQ 01-S), General Rules of Procedure (IECQ 03-1). This publication is based on the general Rules of Procedures for the Approved Component Scheme (IECQ 03-3) and includes changes or additions that relate specifically to the LED lighting industry, as such this publication takes precedence over IECQ 03-3. This publication may also be supplemented by IECQ Operational Documents (OD) as approved for use by the IECQ Management Committee, see www.iecq.org for latest publications.

This part of IEC 62442 defines a measurement method for the power losses of electromagnetic transformers as well as the power losses and the standby power of electronic convertors for tungsten-halogen lamps and for LED light source(s). It is applicable for controlgear that are designed for use on DC supplies up to 1000 V and/or AC supplies up to 1000 V at 50 Hz or 60 Hz. A calculation method of the efficiency of the mentioned controlgear for tungsten-halogen lamps and LED light source(s) is also defined. This document applies to electrical controlgear-lamp circuits comprised solely of the controlgear and of the lamp(s) (LED light sources). For multipurpose power supplies only the lighting part will be considered. NOTE Requirements for testing individual controlgear during production are not included. This document specifies the measurement method for the total input power, the standby power and the calculation method of the controlgear efficiency for all controlgear sold for domestic and normal commercial purposes operating with tungsten-halogen lamps and LED light source(s). The term "LED light sources" includes LED modules and LED lamps. This document does not apply to: controlgear which form an integral part of lamps (LED light sources); controlgear circuits with capacitors connected in series; controllable electromagnetic controlgear.

This International Standard specifies the performance requirements for LED modules, together with the test methods and conditions, required to show compliance with this standard. The following types of LED modules are distinguished: Type 1: integrated LED modules for use on d.c. supplies up to 250 V or on a.c. supplies up to 1000 V at 50 Hz or 60 Hz. Type 2: LED modules operating with part of separate controlgear connected to the mains voltage, and having further control means inside ("semi-integrated") for operation under constant voltage, constant current or constant power. Type 3: LED modules where the complete controlgear is separate from the module (nonintegrated) for operation under constant voltage, constant current or constant power.
