Dieser Teil von ISO/IEC 80079 legt die grundlegende Verfahrensweise für und Anforderungen an Konstruktion, Bau, Prüfung und Kennzeichnung von nicht-elektrischen Ex-Geräten, Ex-Bauteilen, Schutzsystemen, Geräten und Baugruppen dieser Produkte fest, die eigene potentielle Zündquellen aufweisen und für den Einsatz in explosionsfähigen Atmosphären vorgesehen sind. Handwerkzeuge und handbetätigte Geräte ohne Energiespeicherung sind vom Anwendungsbereich dieser Norm ausgeschlossen. Diese Norm befasst sich nicht mit der Sicherheit von statischen autonomen Prozessanlagen, wenn sie kein Teil von Geräten sind, auf die in der vorliegenden Norm verwiesen wird. ANMERKUNG 1 Zu statischen autonomen Prozessanlagen gehören zum Beispiel Tanks, Behälter, fest installierte Rohrleitungen und handbetätigte Ventile ohne eigene Energiequelle, die im laufenden Betrieb eine potentielle Zündquelle entstehen lassen könnten. Diese Norm legt keine Anforderungen an die Sicherheit fest, außer wenn sie sich direkt auf das Zündrisiko beziehen, das dann zu einer Explosion führen könnte. Die üblichen atmosphärischen Bedingungen (in Bezug auf die Explosionskenngrößen der Atmosphäre), unter denen davon ausgegangen werden kann, dass Anlagen betrieben werden können, sind:- Temperaturbereich -20 °C bis +60 °C; - Druck 80 kPa (0,8 bar) bis 110 kPa (1,1 bar); und; - Luft mit üblichem Sauerstoffgehalt, gewöhnlich 21 % (v/v). Derartige Atmosphären können auch im Innern des Geräts vorhanden sein. Zudem kann die externe Atmosphäre durch natürlichen Austausch als Folge von Schwankungen des Betriebsdrucks im Innern des Geräts und/oder der Temperatur in das Gerät eingesaugt werden. ANMERKUNG 2 Obwohl die obenstehend aufgeführten üblichen atmosphärischen Bedingungen einen Temperaturbereich für die Atmosphäre von -20 °C bis +60 °C angeben, liegt der übliche Umgebungstemperaturbereich für das Gerät bei -20 °C bis +40 °C, sofern nichts anderes festgelegt und gekennzeichnet ist. Es wird davon ausgegangen, dass -20 °C bis +40 °C für die meisten Geräte angemessen ist; eine Fertigung aller Ex-Geräte für eine Eignung in üblicher Atmosphäre im oberen Temperaturbereich von +60 °C würde zu unnötigen Konstruktionsbeschränkungen führen. ANMERKUNG 3 Die Anforderungen der vorliegenden Norm können auch für Konstruktion, Bau, Prüfung und Kennzeichnung von Geräten von Nutzen sein, die für den Einsatz in Atmosphären außerhalb des oben festgelegten Geltungsbereichs der vorliegenden Norm vorgesehen sind. In diesem Fall müssten jedoch die Zündgefahrenbewertung, die vorgesehene Zündschutzart, zusätzliche Prüfungen (falls erforderlich), die technische Dokumentation des Herstellers und Anweisungen für den Benutzer eindeutig die Eignung des Geräts für die anzutreffenden Bedingungen nachweisen.

This part of ISO/IEC 80079 specifies the requirements for the design and construction of non- electrical equipment, intended for use in explosive atmospheres, protected by the types of protection constructional safety “c”, control of ignition source “b” and liquid immersion “k”. This part of ISO/IEC 80079 supplements and modifies the requirements in ISO 80079-36. Where a requirement of this standard conflicts with the requirement of ISO 80079-36 the requirement of this standard takes precedence. Types of Protection “c”, “k” and “b” are not applicable for Group I, EPL Ma without additional protective precautions. The types of ignition protection described in the standard can be used either on their own or in combination with each other to meet the requirements for equipment of Group I, Group II, and Group III depending on the ignition hazard assessment in ISO 80079-36.
