1.1 本标准适用于使用在符合其本身标准规定的仪器和设备中的电动机。 1.2 本标准适用于额定功率不大于3.7kW(5马力)电压不大于250V的串激、并激、复激和永磁式的交流或直流换向器电动机。 1.3 本标准适用于1.2条所述以外的额定电压不大于600V、功率不大于746kW(100马力)、机座外径不大于483mm(19in)的电动机，亦包括推斥式换向器电动机。 1.4 本标准适用于开启式和全封闭式电动机。 1.5 本标准适用于电动机零件及其零件组合。 1.6 本标准不适用于： A．符合UL 547《电动机热保护器标准》的热保护器； B．符合UL 519《阻抗保护电动机标准》的阻抗保护电动机的阻抗要求； C．与将安装电动机最终使用设备要求有关的其它电动机保护器； D．符合UL 984《气密密封式致冷电动压缩机标准的密封(气密型)电动压缩机零件。 1.7 本标准不适用于在《国家电气规程》中规定的危险环境中使用的电动机。 1.8 本标准不包括与最终使用设备使用情况有关的性能要求。诸如额定电流、正常与不常运行时的温升、电动机保护、内部连线与绝缘以及类似的性能，这些性能在最终使用中加以评定。
