ISO/IEC 29167-16:2015 describes a crypto suite based on Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) for the ISO/IEC 18000‑ series of standards protocol. In particular, it specifies the use of Elliptic Curve Diffie-Hellman (ECDH) key agreement in a secure channel establishment and the use of Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) in an authentication mechanism. The character string is intended to be represented in a bar code label or other AIDC media attached to the entity to meet management needs. To address management needs, different types of entities are recognized in the various parts of ISO/IEC 15459, which allows different requirements to be met by the identities associated with each type. The rules for the unique identification for individual transport units, to identify physical logistical transfers, with the identity relevant for the duration of one or more items in the load being held or transported as part of that load, are defined and supported by example.

ISO/IEC 11179-3:2013 specifies the structure of a metadata registry in the form of a conceptual data model. While the model diagrams are presented in UML notation, ISO/IEC 11179-3:2013 does not assume nor endorse any specific system environment, database management system, database design paradigm, system development methodology, data definition language, command language, system interface, user interface, computing platform, or any technology required for implementation. ISO/IEC 11179-3:2013 does not directly apply to the actual use of data in communications and information processing systems. ISO/IEC 24769-5:2012 defines the test methods for determining the conformance of real time locating systems (RTLS) tags and readers with the specifications given in the corresponding parts of ISO/IEC 24730-5. ISO/IEC 24769-5:2012 does not include the testing of conformity with regulatory requirements. The test methods require only that the mandatory functions, and any optional functions which are implemented, be verified. The conformance parameters described in ISO/IEC 24769-5:2012 include the radio frequency air interface and packet exchange required to perform the locating of the RTLS tag. It includes the mandatory 2-ary orthogonal chirp spread spectrum (CSS) modulation and the optional differential quadrature phase shift keying (DQPSK) CSS. ISO/IEC 24769-5:2012 also includes the ranging packet exchanges, the commands and the reports defined in ISO/IEC 24730-5. Unless otherwise specified, the tests in ISO/IEC 24769-5:2012 shall be applied exclusively to RTLS tags and readers defined in ISO/IEC 24730-5.

Although important, it is beyond the scope of ISO/IEC TR 24729-4:2009 to address security aspects of the reader-to-host and back-end enterprise modules. ISO/IEC TR 24729-4:2009 is not intended to specifically address consumer privacy concerns; however, since data and personal privacy depend on the use of appropriate security measures, privacy is addressed in general terms. Data access security provides a measure of personal privacy protection by mitigating the potential for unauthorized reading of data on a tag. However, not all data access security countermeasures provide the same level of protection.
