Mobility for enterprise communications is the ability for persons and objects (e.g. vehicles, sensors and other machines) belonging to the enterprise to use communication and information services regardless of changes in their physical location. This includes also the ability to be reached by other persons or objects for communications. ISO/IEC TR 26927:2011 encompasses the mobility of enterprise users connecting to enterprise and public IP networks using wired and wireless terminals for voice, data and converged services. It defines terms for different types of mobility, describes basic functionality in support of mobility, and lists common deployment scenarios. For each scenario, it identifies functional requirements and standardization gaps with the main focus on the management of mobility, identity, terminals and reachability. However, it does not provide technical solutions but lays the foundations for triggering standardization projects in areas where gaps have been identified. More general aspects of enterprise communications based on Next Generation Corporate Networks (NGCN) and interconnection with Next Generation Networks (NGN) are covered by ISO/IEC TR 12860, ISO/IEC TR 12861, ISO/IEC TR 16166 and ISO/IEC TR 16167.

ISO/IEC TR 16166:2010 discusses the security of session-based communications within Next Generation Corporate Networks. It uses terminology and concepts developed in ISO/IEC TR 12860. It identifies a number of requirements impacting Next Generation Network standardization and makes a number of recommendations concerning deployment of enterprise networks. In addition, a number of standardization gaps are identified. Both signalling security and media security are considered. The scope of ISO/IEC TR 16166:2010 is limited to communications with a real-time element, including but not limited to voice, video, real-time text, instant messaging and combinations of these (multi-media).

ISO/IEC 16317:2011 specifies maintenance of network connectivity and presence by proxies to extend the sleep duration of hosts. ISO/IEC 16317:2011 specifies: capabilities that a proxy may expose to a host; information that must be exchanged between a host and a proxy; proxy behaviour for 802.3 (Ethernet) and 802.11 (WiFi); required and optional behaviour of a proxy while it is operating, including responding to packets, generating packets, ignoring packets, and waking the host. ISO/IEC 16317:2011 does not: specify communication mechanisms between hosts and proxies; extend or modify the referenced specifications (and for any discrepancies those specifications are authoritative); support security and communication protocols such as IPsec, MACSec, SSL, TLS, Mobile IP, etc.

ISO/IEC TR 16167:2011 discusses issues related to emergency calls from an enterprise user to a safety answering point (SAP) using the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) within a Next Generation Corporate Network (NGCN). A SAP can be either a public safety answering point (PSAP) or a private emergency answering point (PEAP). ISO/IEC TR 16167:2011 uses terminology and concepts developed in ISO/IEC TR 12860. It identifies a number of requirements impacting Next Generation Network standardization and concerning deployment of enterprise networks. The scope of ISO/IEC TR 16167:2011 is limited to calls from a user of an enterprise network to an authority, where the authority is represented by a SAP (PSAP or PEAP). This includes the special case where a PEAP acts as an enterprise user in making an emergency call to a PSAP. Authority to authority calls, authority to enterprise user calls and enterprise user to enterprise user calls within the context of an emergency are out of scope, with the exception of return calls and verification calls as follow-up to an emergency call from the user to an authority.

ISO/IEC/IEEE 8802-3:2017 defines Ethernet local area, access and metropolitan area networks. Ethernet is specified at selected speeds of operation; and uses a common media access control (MAC) specification and management information base (MIB). The Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection (CSMA/CD) MAC protocol specifies shared medium (half duplex) operation, as well as full duplex operation. Speed specific Media Independent Interfaces (MIIs) provide an architectural and optional implementation interface to selected Physical Layer entities (PHY). The Physical Layer encodes frames for transmission and decodes received frames with the modulation specified for the speed of operation, transmission medium and supported link length. Other specified capabilities include: control and management protocols, and the provision of power over selected twisted pair PHY types.
