ISO 22901-2:2011 is intended to ensure that diagnostic data stream information is available to diagnostic tool application manufacturers to simplify the support of the aftermarket automotive service industry. The ODX modelled diagnostic data are compatible with the software requirements of the Modular Vehicle Communication Interface (ISO 22900-2 and ISO 22900-3). The ODX modelled diagnostic data can enable an MVCI device to communicate with the vehicle [ECU(s)] and interpret the diagnostic data contained in the messages exchanged between the external test equipment and the ECU(s). For ODX-compliant external test equipment, no software programming is necessary to convert diagnostic data into technician-readable information for display by the external test equipment. ISO 22901-2:2011 contains emissions-related OBD data examples described in ODX. The data examples derive from ISO 15031 (all parts). The emissions-related OBD ODX modelled diagnostic data describe the protocol specification from diagnostic communication of emissions-related ECUs; the communication parameters for the emissions-related OBD protocols and data link layers and for emissions-related ECU software; the related vehicle interface description (connectors and pin-out); and the functional description of diagnostic capabilities of a network of ECUs. ISO 22901-2:2011 is based on emissions-related diagnostic data derived and formatted according to the ISO 15765-4 DoCAN protocol. The definitions and XML representation is exemplary for all other protocols that are referenced in ISO 15031-5.

1.1 This part of ISO 8984 specifies minimum requirements for hand-lever-operated testing and setting apparatus to perform certain tests on fuel injectors for diesel (compression-ignition) engines. These tests are detailed in ISO 8984-2 and are — nozzle opening pressure; — chatter (atomization); — spray pattern; — seat leakage; — back-leakage. This International Standard concerns fuel injectors having a spring-loaded nozzle valve actuated by fuel pressure. It is intended that the specifications form a standard basis. The injector is connected to the apparatus by an adaptor specified by the injector manufacturer. 1.2 This part of ISO 8984 primarily applies to apparatus for testing the injectors of fuel injection equipment for diesel (compression-ignition) engines requiring fuel delivery of up to 300 mm3/(injection × cylinder) at full load. 1.3 No distinction is made between apparatus used in different locations, e.g. laboratories, factories or service stations. 1.4 It is up to the injector manufacturer to specify which tests are to be selected from those listed in 1.1, together with any additional requirements for a particular injector. NOTE 1 The terms used in this part of ISO 8984 are in accordance with ISO 7876-2[6].

This International Standard describes an extension of data link protocols for enhancing the security of data transfers between electronic control units (ECUs) connected by a communication network used in road vehicles. It is based on cryptographic methods that include encryption, digital signatures and message authentication codes (MACs). It provides a description of services to establish ECUs as trusted parties in respect of one another and to protect against specific threats. It is applicable to all data links between pairs of ECUs capable of storing and processing secret data so that unauthorized third parties are denied access to it. Parameters are provided to enable the level of security in the data link to be selected.
