This International Standard lays down the general specifications for constant displacement hydraulic motors to be installed in aircraft, which transform hydraulic power into mechanical energy in the form of a rotational torque. Primary and secondary function motors (see clause 3) are covered in this International Standard; actuators with internal rotation angle limits and low-speed motors are not covered in this International Standard. This International Standard shall be used in conjunction with the detail specification particular to each application. NOTE — A schematic summary is provided in annex A for easy reference to the contents of this International Standard.

This part of ISO 14085 specifies a method for determining the resistance of a filter element to flow fatigue caused by varying flow through the filter in various stages of the filter contaminant loading process. The filter is subjected to a uniform varying flow rate for a specified number of cycles, at a number of predetermined differential pressures. Although the number of cycles and differential pressure conditions used in this part of ISO 14085 is meant to simulate possible service conditions, this part of ISO 14085 is not intended to qualify a filter element under replicate conditions of service; this can only be done by a specific test protocol developed for the purpose, including actual conditions of use, for example the operating fluid, contamination, and exact cyclic flow conditions. This part of ISO 14085 establishes a method for verifying the ability of a filter element to withstand the stress caused by cyclic differential pressures induced by a variable flow rate. The test data resulting from application of this part of ISO 14085 can be used to compare the performance of aerospace hydraulic filter elements.

This part of ISO 8829 specifies test methods for flexible polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) inner tubes with non-metallic braided hose and hose assemblies used in aircraft fluid systems, in the pressure and temperature ranges covered by pressure classes and temperature types, as specified in ISO 6771. This part of ISO 8829 applies to the hose and the hose coupling. The tests and assembly requirements for the connecting end fittings are covered in the procurement specification. This part of ISO 8829 is applicable when reference is made to it in a procurement specification or other definition document. NOTE Fluids used for the tests are listed in Annex A.

This International Standard specifies requirements for standard-weight polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) hose assemblies for use in aircraft hydraulic systems at temperatures between − 55 °C and + 204 °C and at a nominal pressure up to 21 000 kPa (210 bar). The hose assemblies are also suitable for use within the same temperature and pressure limitations in aircraft pneumatic systems where some gaseous diffusion through the wall of the PTFE liner can be tolerated. The use of these hose assemblies in high-pressure pneumatic storage systems is not recommended. In addition, installations in which the limits specified in this International Standard are exceeded, or in which the application is not covered specifically by this International Standard, for example for oxygen, shall be subject to the approval of the purchaser.

This International Standard specifies the detail dimensions of the male connector interfaces, fitted to an aircraft, used for servicing of the potable water systems, the toilet-flush water systems, and the toilet drain systems currently in common use. This International Standard is applicable to all commercial aircraft with water and toilet systems and is recommended for military and private aircraft that use water and toilet systems. This International Standard does not include requirements for the ground half (female) couplings or protective caps, but provides sufficient interface details for such items to be designed. It does not include any specified dimensions for the clearance required around the connector on the aircraft body itself for either any protective caps or ground half couplings, although general recommendations are made.
