SAE AS 5653 may be applied to Air Vehicles and Stores implementing MIL-STD-1760 Interface Standard for Aircraft/Store Electrical Interconnection System. This standard defines the characteristics and requirements for a high speed data bus incorporated within a MIL-STD-1760 interface to provide improved transfer capabilities and an alternative command and control path. The high speed data bus is based on Fibre Channel standards. This document (SAE AS 5653) is a profile of Fibre Channel standards. This standard contains the minimum interoperability requirements necessary to define a standardized transport mechanism for video, audio, data files, and command and control transfers. The addition of the high speed data bus to the interface currently defined in MIL-STD-1760D requires changes to be incorporated into that standard (MIL-STD-1760), as defined in Appendix A of this standard (SAE AS 5653). This standard assumes a knowledge of Fibre Cannel communication concepts reference should be made to the Fibre Channel standards where appropriate

This publication will be limited to a discussion of liquid and particulate contaminants which enter the aircraft through the environmental control system (ECS). Gaseous contaminants such as ozone, fuel vapors, sulphates, etc., are not covered in this AIR. It will cover all contamination sources which interface with ECS, and the effects of this contamination on equipment. Methods of control will be limited to the equipment and interfacing ducting which normally falls within the responsibility of the ECS designer. The purpose of this Aerospace Information Report (AIR) is to categorize sources of Environmental Control System contaminants, define the effects of these contaminants on occupants and equipment, and outline design features that can be used to control contamination in aircraft systems.

This specification establishes general performance, design, test, development and quality assurance requirements for the Flight Control Systems of military piloted aircraft. Flight Control Systems (FCS) include all components used to transmit flight control commands from the pilot or other sources to appropriate force and moment producers. Flight control commands normally result in control of aircraft altitude, airspeed, flight path, attitude, aerodynamic or geometric configuration, ride quality, and structural modes. Among components included are the pilot's controls, dedicated displays and logic switching, system inertial and air data sensors, signal computation, test devices, mechanical transmission devices, actuators, power sources, and signal transmission lines dedicated to flight control. Excluded are aerodynamic surfaces, engines and engine control systems, rotorcraft rotors, fire control devices, crew displays and electronics not dedicated to flight control. In the event of conflict between this specification and other referenced documents, this specification shall govern. The detail requirements for a particular system shall be specified in the FCS Specification, 4.6.2, the Aircraft Detail Specification, the contract, or purchase order for that system. Most of the technical concepts and approaches covered by the document represent industry "best practice". They are based on sound and proven engineering practices and have demonstrated successful production experience. Others require specific approval from the procuring activity before use. This requirement for approval is not intended to prohibit their use; but rather to ensure that the prime contractor has fully investigated their capability to perform reliably and to be sufficiently durable under the required conditions and that the prime contractor can present substantiating evidence for approval before the design is committed to.

CEA-761-B defines minimum specifications for a one-way data path utilizing an 8 VSB trellis or a 16 VSB remodulator in compliance with ATSC A/53E Annex D. CEA-761-B references CEA-799-A for on-screen display (OSD) capabilities. The 8 VSB portion of CEA-761-B applies to devices capable of receiving 8 VSB signals and supporting “monitor mode.” The 16 VSB portion of CEA-761-B applies to devices capable of receiving 16 VSB signals and supporting “monitor mode.” For information concerning monitor mode recommendations, refer to CEA-CEB5-B.
