This European Standard applies to baskets suspended on cranes which are designed and built in accordance with harmonized standards dealing with the lifting of persons. This European Standard does not cover the controls for the movement of the basket. NOTE 1 If baskets are intended to be suspended from other cranes, specific national regulations may apply. This European Standard is not applicable to: ? lifts for crane drivers; ? moveable cabins; This European Standard deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to suspended baskets, when used as intended and under conditions foreseen by the manufacturer (see Clause 4). NOTE 2 Specific requirements for particular types of crane are given in the appropriate European Standard for the particular crane type. The significant hazards covered by this document are identified in Clause 4. This European Standard is not applicable to suspended baskets which are manufactured before the date of publication by CEN.

Volume B30.9 includes provisions that apply to the fabrication, attachment, use, inspection, and maintenance of slings used for lifting purposes, used in onjunction with equipment described in other volumes of the B30 Standard, except as restricted in B30.12 and B30.23. Slings fabricated from alloy steel chain, wire rope, metal mesh, synthetic fiber rope, synthetic webbing, and synthetic fiber yarns in a protective cover(s) are addressed. Slings fabricated from other materials or constructions other than those detailed in this Volume shall be used only in accordance with the recommendations of the sling manufacturer or a qualified person.

This European Standard does not apply to control stations which will move with a load or a load lifting attachment. This European Standard does not apply to lifts for crane drivers. This European Standard does not deal with noise hazards because noise due to the movement of the elevating control station is negligible compared to the noise due to the normal operation of the crane.
