Technical specifications for primary processing of mink skins
This document specifies a method using microscopy to identify leather and distinguish it from other materials. The method is not applicable for identifying specific leathers (e.g. sheep leather).
Leather - Identification of leather with microscopy (ISO 17131:2020)
This document specifies a test method for the determination of tanning agents through filtration of all vegetable and synthetic tanning products.
Leather - Chemical tests - Quantitative analysis of tanning agents by filter method (ISO 14088:2020)

1.1 This test method is intended for use in calculating the sulfate basicity of mineral tanned leather. 1.2 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.3 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
Standard Test Method for Sulfate Basicity in Leather
1.1 This test method covers the determination of total ash in wet blue and wet white. 1.2 For total ash in wet white, the procedure is identical; substitute wet white for wet blue in the standard. 1.3 Total ash in wet blue may be reported upon a number of different bases (for example, fat-free, moisture-free, as received, excluding chromium, and so forth). Before proceeding with any tests, it is very important to determine upon which basis that the total ash is to be reported and to identify all other test methods that will be required to be executed in order to achieve the determined reporting method. 1.4 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard. 1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.6 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
Standard Test Method for Total Ash in Wet Blue or Wet White
1.1 This test method is intended for use in determining total chlorides in mineral tanned leather. 1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. What is ISO 17076-1 about? ISO 170761 is a series on leathers. Leather is a strong, flexible and durable material obtained from the tanning, or chemical treatment, of animal skins and hides to prevent decay. ISO 17076-1 specifies a method of determining the abrasion resistance of leather using a Taber apparatus. Who is ISO 17076-1 for? ISO 17076-1 on the determination of abrasion resistance is useful for:
Leather. Determination of abrasion resistance - Taber® method
This document specifies a method of determining the abrasion resistance of leather using a Taber® apparatus.
