The specific gravity of these alloys does not exceed 3.0 and they are designated as shown in Table 1. Note 1: Throughout this specification the use of “ingot” in a general sense includes sow, T-bar, T-ingot, and pig. 1.2 Alloy designations are in accordance with ANSI H35.1/H35.1(M). Note 2: Supplementary data pertaining to the alloys covered by this specification when used in the form of castings are given in Specifications B26/B26M, B85/B85M, B108/B108M, B618/B618M, B686/B686M, B955/B955M, and B969/B969M. 1.3 Unless the order specifies the “M” specification designation, the material shall be furnished to the inch-pound units. 1.4 For acceptance criteria for inclusion of new aluminum and aluminum alloys in this specification, see Annex A1. 1.5 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard. 1.6 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.7 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

1.1 This specification covers aluminum-alloy castings, produced by the thixocast, rheocast, semi-solid, and squeeze casting processes shown in Table 1. (A) When single units are shown, they indicate the maximum amounts permitted.(B) Analysis shall be made for the elements for which limits are shown in this table.(C) The following applies to all specified limits in this table: For purposes of determining conformance to these limits, an observed value or a calculated value obtained from analysis shall be rounded to the nearest unit in the last right-hand place of figures used in expressing the specified limit in accordance with the rounding-off method of Practice E29.(D) In case of discrepancy between the values listed in Table 1 and those listed in the “œDesignations and Composition Limits for Aluminum Alloys in the Form of Castings and Ingot (known as the “œPink Sheets”)”€œ, the composition limits registered with the Aluminum Association and published in the “œPink Sheets” shall be considered the controlling composition.(E) “Others” includes listed elements for which no specific limit is shown as well as unlisted metallic elements. The producer may analyze samples for trace elements not specified in the specification. However, such analysis is not required and may not cover all metallic “Others” elements. Should any analysis by the producer or the purchaser establish that an “Others” element exceeds the limit of “Each” or that the aggregate of several “Others” elements exceeds the limit of “Total,” the material shall be considered nonconforming.(F) Other Elements—Total shall be the sum of unspecified metallic elements 0.0108201;% or more, rounded to the second decimal before determining the sum.(G) If iron exceeds 0.45, manganese content shall not be less than one-half iron content.(H) The Aluminum Association ruling on the number of decimal places to which Mg percent is expressed is exempted for some long standing alloys. See A2.2.6.(I) For a cross reference of current and former alloy designations see the Aluminum Association’€™s “Designations and Chemical Composition Limits for Aluminum Alloys in the Form of Castings and Ingot (The Pink Sheets)”.

1.1 These digital reference images illustrate the types and degrees of discontinuities that may be found in aluminum-alloy castings. The castings illustrated are in thicknesses of 1⁄4 in. (6.35 mm) and 3⁄4 in. (19.1 mm). 1.2 All areas of this standard may be open to agreement between the cognizant engineering organization and the supplier, or specific direction from the cognizant engineering organization. These items should be addressed in the purchase order or the contract. 1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard. 1.4 These digital reference images are not intended to illustrate the types and degrees of discontinuities found in aluminum-alloy castings when performing film radiography. If performing film radiography of aluminum-alloy castings, refer to Reference Radiographs E155. 1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.6 Only licensed copies of the software and images shall be utilized for production inspection. A copy of the ASTM/User license agreement shall be kept on file for audit purposes. NOTE 1—The set of digital reference images consists of 13 digital files, software to load the desired format and specific instructions on the loading process. The 13 reference images illustrate eight grades of severity and contain an image of a step wedge and two line pair gauges. Available from ASTM International Headquarters, Order No: RRE02422. Refer to Practice E2002 for line pair gauge details. NOTE 2—Reference radiographs applicable to aluminum and magnesium die castings up to 1 in. (25 mm) in thickness are contained in Reference Radiographs E505. 1.7 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

This part of ISO 6362 specifies the chemical composition of wrought aluminium and aluminium alloys. The chemical composition limits of aluminium and aluminium alloys specified herein are completely identical with those registered with the Aluminium Association, 1525 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 600, Arlington, VA 22209, USA (known as the “Teal Sheets”), for the corresponding alloys. NOTE In the case of a discrepancy in the values listed in Table 1 with those listed in the “Registration Record Series Teal Sheets, International Alloy Destinations and Chemical Composition Limits for Wrought Aluminum and Wrought Aluminum Alloys”, the composition limits registered with the Aluminium Association and published in the “Teal Sheets” can be considered for controlling the composition.

This part of ISO 6362 specifies the tolerances on dimensions and shape of wrought aluminium and aluminium alloy extruded round bars having diameters in the range from 8 mm up to 350 mm; and square and hexagonal bars having widths across flats in the range from 10 mm up to 220 mm. It applies to extruded round, square and hexagonal bars.

This European Standard specifies tolerances on dimensions and form of extruded precision profiles, in alloys EN AW-6060 and EN AW-6063 manufactured with and without a thermal barrier. It applies to extruded products supplied without further surface treatment. Precision profiles covered in this standard are distinguished from extruded profiles for general applications covered in EN 755-9 by the following characteristics: - they are mainly for architectural applications; - they meet more stringent requirements regarding the surface condition of visible surfaces; - the maximum diameter of the circumscribing circle CD is 350 mm; - they are made to closer tolerances on dimensions and form. In the case of profiles which, due to the complexity of their design, are difficult to manufacture and specify, then special agreements between supplier and purchaser may need to be reached. NOTE The effect of the thermal barrier material on the dimensional tolerances is covered by this document although the actual thermal barrier material itself is not (see EN 14024).
