1 Domaine d'application 1.1 Cette norme vise les panneaux dérivés du bois, conçus et fabriqués pour servir de revêtements intermédiaires de planchers, de murs et de toits dans les ouvrages à charpente légère. Les panneaux se divisent en trois types : les panneaux faits entièrement de placages de bois, les panneaux faits en partie de placages et en partie de bois constituant, et les panneaux faits entièrement de bois constituant. 1.2 Cette norme exige que les liants utilisés dans la fabrication des panneaux soient hydrofuges et antibouillage. Toutefois, la conformité des panneaux à cette norme n'en fait pas des panneaux de type extérieur adéquats pour une exposition prolongée ou permanente aux éléments. Note. Les critères visant les panneaux de qualité extérieure sont énoncés dans les normes CSA O121, O151, O153, CAN3-O188.3 et CAN3-O437.0. 1.3 Cette norme définit cinq groupes de revêtements intermédiaires de construction qui conviennent à des utilisations déterminées. Des critères d'essai sont spécifiés pour chacun de ces groupes. Pour chaque groupe, la norme établit des valeurs fondées sur des critères concernant l'aspect physique, la durabilité du liant et la tenue structurale, selon l'utilisation prévue. L'ensemble de ces valeurs de contrôle permet de fixer les limites qui serviront de base à l'élaboration des méthodes d'essai du programme d'assurance de la qualité. 1.5 Cette norme exige que les panneaux jugés conformes répondent aux critères d'une spécification d'usine. 1.6 Cette norme énonce des marquages indiquant l'utilisation recommandée des panneaux conformes. 1.7 Cette norme ne traite pas des particularités de finition des panneaux, comme la résilience et l'aspect lisse de la surface. 1.8 Cette norme constitue une solution de rechange à d'autres normes qui traitent des panneaux dérivés du bois et ne vise aucunement à les remplacer. Dans cette norme, l'emploi du terme « revêtement intermédiaire de construction » ne laisse pas supposer que les panneaux conformes à d'autres normes CSA (comme les normes O121, O151, O153, CAN3-O188.3 et CAN3-O437.0) ne sont pas des panneaux de revêtement intermédiaire de construction. 1.9 Dans cette norme, les valeurs sont exprimées en unités métriques (SI). 1. Scope 1.1 This Standard pertains to wood-based panel products, designed and manufactured for protected construction uses as roof sheathing, wall sheathing, and floor sheathing in light frame construction applications. Construction Sheathing panels primarily comprise three types: all wood veneer; part veneer and part wood furnish; and all wood furnish. 1.2 This Standard requires that the binders used to manufacture panels be waterproof and boilproof. However, conformance to this Standard does not qualify panels as Exterior Type suitable for prolonged or permanent exterior exposure to the elements. Note: Criteria for panels of Exterior bond quality may be found in CSa Standards O121, O151, O153, CAN3-O188.3, and CAN3-O437.0. 1.3 This Standard establishes five groups of Construction Sheathing products relating to end use, each specified by means of prescribed test requirements. Within each group, the Standard establishes levels based on physical, bond durability, and structural performance criteria appropriate for the intended application. It specifies Product Qualification tests and criteria based on the assumption that panels will be installed in accordance with good practice. Other tests and criteria may be required to characterize panels for special construction uses or other applications. 1.4 This Standard prescribes certain Control Values (which conform to industry norms) and test methods for establishing other Control Values (which are unique to individual Products). Taken together, these Control Values set limits against which an ongoing quality assurance test program may be established. 1.5 This Standard requires that all panels represented as conforming to it be covered by a Mill Specification. 1.6 This Standard specifies panel marks that indicate recommended end uses for conforming panels. 1.7 This Standard does not cover surface finish of panels such as surface solidity or smoothness. 1.8 This Standard provides an alternative, not a replacement to other Standards for wood-based panels. The use of the term "Construction Sheathing" in this Standard is not intended to imply that panels conforming to other CSA Standards (such as O121, O151, O153, CAN3-O188.3, and CAN3-O437.0) are not construction sheathing panels. 1.9 The values given in SI (metric) units are the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.
