This part of this European Standard specifies a method of determining the colouristic properties of a test pigment relative to a standard, and the ease of dispersion DHPVC-P of pigments from the differences in colour strength on dispersing colouring materials under various conditions in plasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC-P) compounds. The method is appropriate for use with organic and inorganic black and colour pigments and for pigment preparations. The ease of dispersion determined in this way is valid only for the dispersion equipment, dispersion conditions and dispersion medium being used. The use of test conditions differing from those specified may give different results; this applies both to the absolute magnitude and to the relation between values of the ease of dispersion of various pigments. The subscript DHPVC-P is therefore used to designate the value obtained as specified in this part of this European Standard. The principle of this standard may also be used for routine quality control purposes by reference to the photometric data generated from the sheets milled at 130 ℃. For quality control purposes, the ratio of pigment to TiO2 may be agreed between the interested parties. Ratios of 1:10 for organic pigments and 0,2 to 0,5:1 for inorganic pigments are suggested as convenient and widely used standard ratios. Annex A is informative and gives a description of a suitable basic compound.

Method A is appropriate for use with organic powder pigments and carbon black pigments in powder form, many of which are subject to compaction (reagglomeration under pressure), for inorganic pigments in powder form and for pigment preparations in powder or flake form. Method B is appropriate for testing pigments and pigment preparations in granular form and for inorganic pigments in any form. The ease of dispersion determined in this way is valid only for the dispersion equipment, dispersion conditions and dispersion medium being used. The use of test conditions differing from those specified may give different results; this applies both to the absolute magnitude and to the relation between values of the ease of dispersion of various pigments. The subscript DHPE is therefore used to designate the value obtained as specified in this part of this European Standard.

This International Standard specifies methods used to measure the water content of polyols employed as polyurethane raw materials. Method A is a manual amperometric method which has been included to better define the principles of the Karl Fischer measurement. Amperometric methods are applicable to a wide range of polyols, including those which have enough colour to obscure a visual end-point. Method B includes an automated amperometric procedure and an automated coulometric procedure. The coulometric procedure is an absolute method that does not require calibration and gives improved sensitivity compared with amperometric methods.

This International Standard specifies a microtitration method to measure the degree of unsaturation in polyether polyols used in the production of polyurethanes. It is based on the reaction of mercuric acetate with double bonds in the polyol. It does not apply to compounds in which the unsaturation is conjugated with carbonyl, carboxyl or nitrile groups. The product being measured must be essentially dry and free of inorganic salts, especially halides.
