This standard deals with the safety of electrically heated gullies for de-icing the inlet of the drainage system of flat roofs, balconies, and similar structures, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V. As far as practicable, this standard deals with the common hazards presented by appliances which are encountered by all persons in and around the home. However, in general, it does not take into account - the use of appliances by young children or infirm persons without supervision; - playing with the appliance by young children.
Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety - Part 2-83: Particular requirements for heated gullies for roof drainage
This Standard establishes minimum design requirements for roof drains, including general purpose, gutter and cornice, parapet and promenade, balcony, or deck types, which convey rainwater from the roof area of building structures. It includes definitions, nomenclature, outlet types and connections, dome or grate-free area, top loading classifications, materials and finishes, and accessories.

1.1 This test method provides impact resistance data for the evaluation of prepared roof covering materials. For purposes of this Standard prepared roof covering materials are considered to be small units, sheets or panels designed for installation with multiple layers of such materials installed in overlapping rows normally on inclines exceeding 25 percent. 1.2 The test evaluates the effect of impact from the steel ball at locations on the assembly selected to be most vulnerable, such as (but not limited to) edges, corners, unsupported sections and joints. 1.3 Deleted January 25, 2002. 1.4 This test method does not evaluate the effect of weathering, temperature, aging or similar effects on the impact resistance of prepared roof covering materials. These and other factors, including time, roof slope, roof system configuration and application influence the performance of roofing materials in the field. It is not the objective of this test to address all of these factors.

Covers the wind resistance of sheet roofing, asphalt shingles, formed metal shakes and shingyles, fire-retardent-treated wood shakes and shingles, and other prepared roof covering materials. These materials are intended, when properly installed, to resist damage when subjected to winds in the Beaufort Scale N. 10 range (55-63 mph).

1.1 This specification covers concrete tiles intended for the use as roof covering where durability and appearance are required to provide a weather-resistant surface of specified design. 1.2 Tiles are manufactured from portland cement, water, and mineral aggregates with or without the inclusion of other materials. 1.3 Tiles are shaped during manufacturing by molding, pressing, or extrusion. The shaping method can be used to describe the tile. 1.4 Other constituents, such as chemical and mineral admixtures established as suitable for use in concrete, shall conform to ASTM standard specifications where applicable, or shall be shown by tests or experience not to be detrimental to the durability of concrete. 1.5 Tiles are generally planar or undulating rectangular shapes available in a variety of cross-sectional areas profiles, shapes, sizes, surface textures, and colors. Note 1: Concrete roof tiles covered by this specification are made from lightweight or normal weight aggregates, or both. Note 2: When particular features are desired, such as color, surface texture for appearance, or other special features, such properties should be specified by the purchaser. However. the local sellers should be consulted as to the availability of concrete roof tile having a desired feature. 1.6 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.
