This part of IEC 62056 specifies the data link layer for connection-oriented, HDLC-based, asynchronous communication profile. In order to ensure a coherent data link layer service specification for both connection-oriented and connectionless operation modes, the data link layer is divided into two sub-layers: the Logical Link Control (LLC) sub-layer and the Medium Access Control (MAC) sub-layer. This specification supports the following communication environments: • point-to-point and point-to-multipoint configurations; • dedicated and switched data transmission facilities; • half-duplex and full-duplex connections; • asynchronous start/stop transmission, with 1 start bit, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit. Two special procedures are also defined: • transferring of separately received Service User layer PDU parts from the server to the client in a transparent manner. The server side Service user layer can give its PDU to the data link layer in fragments and the data link layer can hide this fragmentation from the client; • event reporting, by sending UI frames from the secondary station to the primary station. Annex B gives an explanation of the role of data models and protocols in electricity meter data exchange.

This part of IEC 60364 applies to embedded electric heating systems for surface heating. It also applies to electric heating systems for de-icing or frost prevention or similar applications. Both indoor and outdoor systems are covered. Heating systems for industrial and commercial applications complying with relevant parts of IEC 60519, IEC 62395 and IEC 60079 are not covered. NOTE Examples of heating systems covered by this standard are heating systems for walls, ceilings, floors, roofs, drainpipes, gutters, pipes, stairs, roadways, non-hardened compacted areas (e.g. football fields, lawns).

This part of IEC 60364 specifies the minimum electrical installation requirements to facilitate the safe design, installation and operation of mobile, temporarily or permanently installed electrical machines and structures which incorporate electrical equipment. The machines and structures are intended to be installed repeatedly, without loss of safety, temporarily or permanently, at fairgrounds, amusement parks, circuses or any other places. For non-electrical safety, refer to CEN TC 152. The object of this part of IEC 60364 is to define the electrical installation requirements for such structures and machines, both being either integral parts or constituting the total amusement device. This part does not apply to the electrical equipment of machines (see IEC 60204-1).

This technical report describes an architectured application layer used for communication with metering equipments in general, whatever the associated physical medium and lower layer protocols in a collapsed three-layer model are. This technical report specifies the protocols to be applied for the application layer except the DLMS (Distribution Line Message Specification) model, which is already covered by IEC 61334-4-41.

The particular requirements of this part of IEC 60364 apply to the selection and erection of luminaires and lighting installations forming part of an outdoor fixed installation. The origin of the external lighting installation is the supply delivery point of electrical energy by the supply authority or the origin of the circuit supplying the external lighting installation exclusively. The requirements apply to, for example, lighting installations for roads, parks, gardens, places open to the public, sporting areas, illumination of monuments, floodlighting, telephone kiosks, bus shelters, advertising panels, town plans and road signs. The requirements do not apply to: – public street-lighting installations which are part of the public power grid; – temporary festoon lighting; – road traffic signal systems; – luminaires which are fixed to the outside of a building and are supplied directly from the internal wiring of that building. For lighting installations for swimming pools and fountains, see IEC 60364-7-702.

This technical report describes a three layer data exchange architecture used for communication with large industrial and commercial customers' metering equipment (aiming, in particular, at the remote reading of these meters for billing purposes). The public switched telephone network (PSTN) is used as a communication medium for this data exchange. This technical report defines the protocols to be applied for each layer of the architecture (physical, data link and application), making use as far as possible of existing standards, such as – ITU-T V.22, V.22bis, V.23, V.24, V.25, V.25bis, V.28, V.32, V.32bis and V.41 (ITU-T: telecommunication standardization sector of the International Telecommunication Union), – IEC 61334-4-41 which describes the DLMS (Distribution Line Message Specification) model.
