This European Standard specifies units made from polyester resin concrete (PRC, see 3.1.18), and their joints, for the construction of inspection chambers with inverts not exceeding 2 m deep and for manholes, intended to be used within a drain or sewer system operating without pressure. It applies to products for use outside buildings in buried installations to be installed by open-trench techniques. This document applies to nominal sizes from DN 600 to DN 3000 for chamber rings and shaft rings having a circular shape. The intended use of these products is to provide access to buried drain or sewer systems for the conveyance of wastewater, i.e. sewage and surface water, at temperatures up to 50 °C, without pressure or occasionally at a head of pressure up to 0,5 bar1), and installed in areas subjected to vehicle and/or pedestrian traffic and outside buildings. NOTE 1 The attention of readers is drawn to applicable requirements contained in EN 476. This standard specifies definitions, requirements and characteristics of units and their joints for the construction of manholes and inspection chambers, of materials, test methods, marking and evaluation of conformity. The units are classified on the basis of its type and the type of structure they are intended to be used. NOTE 2 It is the responsibility of the purchaser or specifier to make the appropriate selections, taking into account their particular requirements and any relevant national regulations and installation practices or codes.

4.1 The inspection, testing, and repair of sewer pipe joints is a practice that can assist in maintaining and optimizing sewer performance. It is important to identify methods that use the most current compounds and technology to ensure the reduction of infiltration and exfiltration. The method selected should utilize environmentally safe grout and minimize the disruption of traffic. 4.2 This practice serves as a means to inspect, test, and seal sewer pipe joints, having selected the appropriate chemical grouts, using the packer method. Television inspection and joint testing are used to identify sewer line conditions, defective joints, and document the repairs undertaken. Instruction on joint sealing, if necessary, is then detailed, using pressure injection into the soils encompassing the pipe joint with a chemical grout (chemical sealing material). 4.3 This practice should not be used for longitudinally cracked pipe, severely corroded pipe, structurally unsound pipe, flattened, or out-of-roundpipe. In areas with high groundwater pressure, greater than 10 psi (68.9 ksi) at the test point, consult equipment manufacturers. 1.1 This practice describes the procedures for testing and sealing individual sewer pipe joints with appropriate chemical grouts using the packer method. Sewer systems shall include sanitary, storm, and combined and their appurtenances. Chemical grouting is a soil sealing process, which seals the voids within the soil surrounding the exterior of the pipe at the point of leakage. Chemical grouting is not considered a structural repair. 1.2 This practice applies to sewers 6 to 42 in. (18 to 107 cm) in diameter. Larger diameter pipe may be grouted with specialized packers or man entry methods. Host pipe interior surfaces must be adequate to create an effective seal for the packer elements. 1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard. 1.4 Worker safety training should include reviewing the hazards associated with hoses, pumps, tanks, couplers, compressors, bottles, motors, and all other related application apparatus. Additional safety considerations including safely handling, mixing, and transporting of chemical grouts should be provided by the chemical grout manufacturer or supplier or both. Their safe operating practices and procedures should describe in detail appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for the various grouting operations. Operations covered should include the proper storage, transportation, mixing, and disposal of chemical grouts, additives, and their associated containers. 1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

This European Standard specifies a system for the classification of techniques for renovation and repair of drains and sewers outside buildings, operated under gravity or pressure, including pipes, connections and manholes. It defines and describes families of techniques and their different generic methods and materials used. This European Standard does not describe specific products. For each technique family it lists relevant existing standards, materials and applications and outlines characteristics including installation aspects, structural and hydraulic capabilities and site impact. Necessary work on the existing pipe prior to renovation and repair is outside the scope of this European Standard. This European Standard provides information needed to determine viable options for identification of the optimal technique with regard to a given set of renovation and repair objectives. NOTE It is the responsibility of the designer to choose and design the renovation and repair systems. It does not specify the calculation methods to determine, for each viable technique, the required amount of lining material needed to secure the desired performance of the renovated pipeline.

This European Standard specifies the required properties of the piping system and its components made from glass-reinforced thermosetting plastics (GRP) based on unsaturated polyester resin (UP) intended to be used for drainage or sewerage with or without pressure. In a pipework system, pipes and fittings of different nominal pressure and stiffness ratings may be used together. NOTE 1 It is the responsibility of the purchaser or specifier to make the appropriate selections from these aspects, taking into account their particular requirements and any relevant national regulations and installation practices or codes. This European Standard is applicable to GRP-UP, with flexible or rigid joints (see 3.37 and 3.38), primarily intended for use in buried installations. NOTE 2 Piping systems conforming to this European Standard can be used also for non-buried applications provided the influence of the environment, e.g. from UV-radiation, and the supports are considered in the design of the pipes, fittings and joints. It is applicable to pipes, fittings and their joints of nominal sizes from DN 100 to DN 3000, which are intended to be used for the conveyance of surface water or sewage at temperatures up to 50 ~C, with or without pressure. This European Standard covers a range of nominal sizes, nominal stiffnesses and nominal pressures. Clause 4 specifies the general aspects of GRP-UP piping system intended to be used in the field of drainage or sewerage, with or without pressure. Clause 5 specifies the characteristics of pipes made from GRP-UP with or without aggregates and/or fillers. The pipes can have a thermosetting or thermoplastics liner. Clause 5 also specifies the test parameters for the test methods referred to in this European Standard. Clause 6 specifies the characteristics of fittings made from GRP-UP with either a thermosetting or thermoplastics liner intended to be used in the field of drainage or sewerage. Clause 6 specifies the dimensional and performance requirements for bends, branches, reducers, saddles and flanged adaptors and it also specifies the test parameters for the test methods referred to in this European Standard. Clause 6 is applicable to fittings made using any of the following techniques: a) fabricated from straight pipe; b) moulded by 1) filament winding; 2) tape winding; 3) contact moulding; 4) hot or cold press moulding. Clause 7 is applicable to the joints to be used in GRP-UP piping systems to be used for the conveyance of water, both buried and non-buried. This specification is applicable to joints, which are or are not intended to be resistant to axial loading. It covers requirements to prove the design of the joint. Clause 7 specifies type test performance requirements for the following joints as a function of the declared nominal pressure rating of the pipeline or system: a) socket-and-spigot (either integral with pipe or sleeve coupling) or mechanical joint; b) locked socket-and-spigot joint; c) cemented or wrapped joint; d) bolted flange joint.
