See A.1. This part of ISO 8124 specifies requirements and test methods for activity toys for domestic family use intended for children under 14 years to play on or in. Products covered by this part of ISO 8124 include swings, slides, seesaws, carousels, rocking toys, climbing frames, fully enclosed toddler swing seats and other products intended to bear the mass of one or more children. Products not included within the scope of this part of ISO 8124 are: a) fitness and sporting equipment unless attached to the activity toy; b) equipment intended for use in schools, day care centres, kindergartens, public playgrounds, restaurants, shopping centres and similar public places; c) juvenile care products such as, but not limited to, infant swings, playpens/enclosures, beds or furniture including picnic tables, cradle rockers and products specifically designed for therapeutic use.

This European Standard specifies safety requirements and test methods related to materials, safety, performance for classified floating leisure articles for use on and in water in accordance with Clause 4 (see Table 1). This document (EN 15649-1) is only applicable with EN 15649-2 and the relevant specific parts (EN 15649-3 to EN 15649-7). NOTE 1 Specific safety requirements are specified in the specific parts EN 15649-3 to EN 15649-7. NOTE 2 The specific parts can include exclusions from the general requirements specified in this document and/or EN 15649-2. This standard is not applicable to: - aquatic toys according to EN 71-1 (use in shallow waters / use under supervision); - inflatable boats with a buoyancy > 1 800 N according to EN ISO 6185-1, EN ISO 6185-2 and EN ISO 6185-3; - buoyant aids for swimming instructions according to EN 13138-1, EN 13138-2 and EN 13138-3; ? air mattresses which are not specifically designed or intended for use on the water (e.g. velour bed, self inflating mattress and rubberized cotton air mattress); - floating seats for angling purposes; - surf sports type devices (e.g. body boards, surf boards); - water ski, wakeboard or kite surfing board; - devices made from rigid materials e.g. wood, aluminium, hard or non-deformable plastic; - devices which are kept in shape by permanent air flow; - rings intended for use on water slides; - wading devices.

This European Standard is applicable for CLASS C classified floating leisure articles for use on and in water according to EN 15649-1 regardless of whether the buoyancy is achieved by inflation or inherent buoyant material. This document (EN 15649-5) is applicable with EN 15649-1 and EN 15649-2. NOTE 1 Typical products forming class C: - tube riders towable with interior holding facility and closed cockpit; - raft riders towable; - board riders towable; - banana type towable. NOTE 2 Typical places for application: - distant from bathing areas and other frequented water surfaces, wide empty spaces, dedicated racetracks (parcours); - no to little waves; - no strong currents.

The following changes in requirements to the Standard for Electric Toys, UL 696, are being proposed: 1. Addition of 1.1.1 to Scope to include requirements that apply to full-size appliances for the safety of toy versions of the appliances. 2. Deletion of all references to sewing machines, flatirons, toys that operate with water, and toys that operate with a gas or liquid under pressure (such as a steam engine). 3. Deletion of 15.17 to comply with ASTM F963. 4. Deletion of 31.1 and 34.2 to comply with 16 CFR 1503.3(d). 5. Deletion of 25.7 to address redundant temperature limits. 6. Revision to 35.2.1 to be consistent with 16 CFR 1505.

This document (EN 15649-7) is applicable with EN 15649-1 and EN 15649-2. Class E devices are intended for use in bathing areas or in protected and safe shore zones. NOTE 1 Typical products forming class E: - inflatable boats for rowing or paddling of near oval shape with or without transom; - canoes and kayaks; - inflatable boats made from plastic sheets or from reinforced materials; - motor kit/sail kit as additional option. NOTE 2 Typical places for application of Class E devices: - moving from A to B for pleasure purposes; - staying on the water for relaxing; - moving from shore to the main water craft, transportation of persons and load (tender boat).
