This International Standard specifies one of the methods for evaluating the habitat function of soils and determining effects of soil contaminants and substances on the reproduction of Enchytraeus sp. by dermal and alimentary uptake in a chronic test. It is applicable to soils and soil materials of unknown quality, e.g. from contaminated sites, amended soils, soils after remediation, agricultural or other sites under concern and waste materials. Effects of substances are assessed using a standard soil, preferably a defined artificial soil substrate. For contaminated soils, the effects are determined in the soil to be tested and in a control soil. According to the objective of the study, the control and dilution substrate (dilution series of contaminated soil) are either an uncontaminated soil comparable to the soil to be tested (reference soil) or a standard soil (e.g. artificial soil). This International Standard provides information on how to use this method for testing substances under temperate conditions. The method is not applicable to volatile substances, i.e. substances for which H (Henry’s constant) or the air/water partition coefficient is greater than 1, or for which the vapour pressure exceeds 0,0133 Pa at 25 °C. NOTE No provision is made in the test method for monitoring the persistence of the substance under test.

Diese Norm legt ein Verfahren zur direkten Extraktion von DNA aus Bodenproben fur die Analyse der allgemeinen Struktur und der Abundanz von Lebensgemeinschaften von Bodenbakterien mit Verfahrensweisen auf der Grundlage von PCR fest. Dieses Verfahren ist vorwiegend fur landwirtschaftlich genutzte Boden und Waldboden vorgesehen. Dieses Verfahren kann moglicherweise fur Boden mit hohem organischen Anteil (z. B. Torfboden) oder Boden, die stark mit organischen Verunreinigungen oder Schwermetallen belastet sind, geeignet sein. Die direkte Extraktion von DNA aus Bodenproben bietet einen einzigartigen Einblick in den Artenreichtum und die Struktur mikrobieller Lebensgemeinschaften, was die Schlusselparameter zur Abschatzung der Biodiversitat der Bodenmikroflora und -fauna sind. Molekulare Verfahren auf der Grundlage der Amplifikation von Boden-DNA durch PCR (Polymerasekettenreaktion) stellen ein vielversprechendes Gebiet dar und konnen in naher Zukunft zur Entwicklung von Routinewerkzeugen beitragen, die die Abschatzung der Bodenbeschaffenheit ermoglichen. Anwender dieser Norm sollten beachten, dass obwohl der Boden fur die DNA-Extraktion sorgfaltig gesiebt wird (2-mm-Sieb, Verfahren in 5.1 beschrieben), Pflanzenruckstande in den Bodenproben noch verbleiben konnen und damit Spuren von Pflanzen-DNA das Boden-Extrakt verunreinigen konnen.

This International Standard describes how to digitally exchange soil-related data. It aims to facilitate the exchange of valid, clearly described and specified soil-related data between individuals and organizations via digital systems, and enables any soil data producer, holder or user to find and transfer data in an unambiguous way. This International Standard contains definitions of features, several parameter specifications and encoding rules that allow consistent and retrievable data exchange. It also allows the explicit georeferencing of soil data by building on other International Standards, thus facilitating the use of soil data within geographical information systems (GIS). Because soil data are of various origins and are obtained according to a huge variety of description and classification systems, this International Standard provides no attribute catalogue, but a flexible approach to the unified encoding of soil data by implementing the provisions of ISO 19156 observations and measurements (OM) for use in soil science.
