This document deals with requirements for pressure sensitive protective devices which are not specified in EN 1760-1 and EN 1760-2. The majority of these devices are produced for specific applications and are not available as off-the-shelf items. The purpose of this document relates primarily to safety and reliability rather than suitability. For the relationship between safety and reliability, see EN 954-1: 1996, Annex D. This document specifies requirements for pressure sensitive protective devices with and without an external reset facility. This document does not specify the dimensions of pressure sensitive protective devices in relation to any particular application. Specific requirements for particular applications may be set out in relevant type C standards. The document does not cover stopping devices used only for the regular operation, including emergency stopping, of machinery. It also does not apply to use in locations accessible to elderly or disabled persons or children, where special additional requirements may be necessary. Basic requirements are given for pressure sensitive protective devices not covered in EN 1760-1 and EN 1760-2. Specific requirements are given for the following devices: ? pressure sensitive bumpers; ? pressure sensitive plates; ? pressure sensitive wires (trip wires). NOTE Some requirements are made with respect to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). These are intended to meet the requirements of the Council Directive 98/37/EC ("Machinery Directive") only and not those of Council Directive 89/336/EC ("EMC Directive")

This part of IEC 60825 provides requirements and specific guidance for the manufacture and safe use of laser products and systems used for point-to-point or point-to-multipoint free space optical data transmission. This standard only addresses the open beam portion of the system. If portions of the equipment or system incorporate optical fibre that extends from the confinements of the enclosure(s)@ the manufacturing and safety requirements under IEC 60825-1 apply to those portions only. This standard does not apply to systems designed for purposes of transmitting optical power for applications such as material processing or medical treatment. This standard also does not apply to the use of systems in explosive atmospheres.Throughout this part of IEC 60825@ light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are included whenever the word ??laser?? is used.The objective of this part of IEC 60825 is to:? provide information to protect people from potentially hazardous optical radiation produced by free space optical communication systems (FSOCS) by specifying engineering controls and requirements@ administrative controls and work practices according to the degree of the hazard;? specify requirements for manufacturing@ installation@ service and operating organisations in order to establish procedures and provide written information so that proper precautions can be adopted.Because of the nature of FSOCS@ also known as optical wireless or free-air information transmission systems@ care must be taken in their manufacture as well as their installation@ operation@ maintenance and service to assure the safe deployment and use of these systems. This Publicly Available Specification(PAS)specifies requirements for filled collective fall arrest systems used to absorb kinetic energy of a falling person from a height not exceeding 2 m above the impact surface. It includes a test method for dymanic performance and requirements for design,construction, instructions for use and maintenance,warning labels,quality control and conformity marking. It does not include installation requirements. This PAS is applicable to filled collective fall arrest systems intended for installation on a firm surface and not suspended. This PAS is not applicable to personal protective equipment against falls from a height. This PAS is not applicable to comtaonment of falling defris.

Carbon monoxide poisoning is responsible for approximately 300 deaths annually in the U.S., (excluding fire deaths) and carbon monoxide poisoning causes thousands of individuals to seek medical attention. This practice is intended for use by individuals who investigate incidents involving carbon monoxide poisoning. If this procedure is followed, the cause for the carbon monoxide poisoning incident may be determined, and steps can be taken to prevent future incidents.1.1 This practice covers guidelines for collecting and preserving information and physical evidence related to incidents involving the poisoning of individuals by carbon monoxide.1.2 This practice is not intended to be a guide for investigating carbon monoxide poisoning caused by hostile fires. Guidance on the investigation of carbon monoxide poisonings related to fire can be found in NFPA 921, Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
