1.1 This guide provides the recommended minimum requirements for denoting various types of fences/barriers for the protection of children's outdoor play spaces in public, commercial, and multi-family residential use locations. This guide excludes individual single family residential use play equipment locations.1.2 This guide provides for the safety of occupants in play areas or zones as it pertains to vehicular intrusion as well as other participant intrusion, and for children containment or entry/exit.1.3 This guide does not purport to address the aspect of safety within a play area or zone. It is the responsibility of the user of this guide to establish appropriate safety practices as related to the play area and determine the applicability of regulatory requirements prior to use.1.4 This guide does not choose the product components for the fence system, the choice of which should be made by the operators of the play space and their specification writers or drafters based upon their determination of the merits of the products that could be used.1.5 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The SI values given in parentheses are for information only.

1 This International Standard covers the evaluation of the performance of diffusive samplers of gases and vapours for use over sampling periods from 4 h to 12 h. Sampling periods of such duration are the most common in workplace sampling. Given a suitable exposure chamber, this International Standard can be straightforwardly extended to cover samplers for use over other sampling periods as well. The aim is to provide a concise set of experiments for classifying samplers primarily according to a single numerical value representing sampler accuracy. NOTE Accuracy estimates refer to conditions of sampler use which are normally expected in a workplace setting. These conditions may be characterized by the temperature, atmospheric pressure, humidity and ambient wind speed, none of which may be constant or accurately known. Furthermore, the accuracy accounts for difficulty in the estimation of time-weighted averages of concentrations which may not be constant in time. In addition to accuracy determination, a method is provided to test the samplers for compliance with the manufacturer's stated limits on capacity, possibly in the presence of interfering compounds. A method is given for classification of samplers according to their capability to detect situations in which sampler capacity may be exceeded. 2 This International Standard is an extension of previous research on diffusive samplers [1-17] as well as EN 838. Essential advantages are the estimation of sampler accuracy under actual conditions of use and the reduction in cost of sampler evaluation. NOTE Furthering the latter point, knowledge of similarity between analytes of interest can be used to expedite sampler evaluation. For example, interpolation of data characterizing the sampling of analytes at separated points of a homologous series of compounds is recommended. At present the procedure in [9] is suggested: Following evaluation of a sampler in use at a single homologous series member according to the present practice, higher molecular weight members would receive partial validations considering sampling rate, capacity, analytical recovery and interferences.

Thii European Standard gives guidance on how to deal with vibration in type Gstandards where vibration is identified as a significant hazard (see 4.6 of EN 292-1:1991). As such, this European Standard supplements the niles given in EN 414. The exact way that vibration is deait with for particular machinery will depend on the structure of the type C-standards and is the responsibility of the type C-standards Technical Committees.

This International Standard specifies requirements, test methods, and marking, labelling and packaging, as appro-priate, of both permanent and temporary single-point anchor devices exclusively for the attachment of personal protective equipment (PPE) for protection against falls from a height for fall arrest, work positioning and travel restriction (work restraint). It is applicable only to anchor devices for PPEs that conform to ISO 10333-1, ISO 10333-2, ISO 10333-3 and ISO 10333-5. NOTE 1 Further standards are in preparation for other types of PPE: ISO 10333-6 and ISO 14566 (see bibliography). Anchor devices are rated to sustain a maximum (dynamic) arresting force of 6,0 kN, and a maximum (static) loading of 1,0 kN (assuming a person of 100 kg mass) in post-fall arrest suspension, work-positioning mode, or restraint mode. Anchor devices are intended for single person use only. A rescuer should not attach to the same anchor device as a person being rescued, unless the anchor device has been specifically designed for such purposes, and the instructions for use specifically permit this application. NOTE 2 Vertical rigid or flexible line systems and horizontal lifelines are not within the scope of this International Standard, but are covered in ISO 10333-4 and ISO 16024.

This European Standard applies to low stretch textile ropes of kernmantel construction from 8,5 mm to 16 mm diameter, for use by persons in rope access including all kinds of work positioning and restraint; for rescue and in speleology. Two types of low stretch kernmantel rope are defined: A and B. The European Standard specifies requirements, testing, marking and information to be supplied by the manufacturer including instructions for use of such low stretch kernmantel ropes. NOTE 1 It is possible that rope not conforming to this European Standard may also be suitable for the activities described above. NOTE 2 Ropes used for protection during any free climbing activity in rope access, rescue or speleology should take account of other standards, e.g. EN 892. Dynamic mountaineering rope may also be used for protection during rope access and work positioning.

This Standard specifies requirements for pressure sensitive mats and floors normally actuated by the feet for use as safety devices to protect persons from dangerous machinery. The minimum safety requirements for the performance, marking and documentation are given. The Standard covers pressure sensitive mats and floors, regardless of type of energy used, e.g. electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic or mechanical. This standard covers mats and floors designed to detect: a) Persons weighing more than 35 kg; b) And persons (e.g. children) weighing more than 20 kg. The detection of persons weighing less than 20 kg is not covered by this standard. This European Standard does not specify the dimensions or the configuration of the effective sensing area of pressure sensitive mat(s) or floor(s) in relation to any particular application.

This part of IEC 60825 specifies the requirements for laser guards, permanent and temporary (for example for service), that enclose the process zone of a laser processing machine, and specifications for proprietary laser guards. This standard applies to all component parts of a guard including clear (visibly transmitting) screens and viewing windows, panels, laser curtains and walls. Requirements for beam path components, beam stops and those other parts of a protective housing of a laser product which do not enclose the process zone are contained in IEC 60825-1. In addition this part of IEC 60825 indicates: a) how to assess and specify the protective properties of a laser guard; and b) how to select a laser guard.

These test methods cover the 24-h gas-space acetaldehyde (AA) content of freshly blown polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles. These test methods, containing internal or external standard calibration, are applicable to all PET bottles. The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. Note 1- These is no similar or equivalent ISO standard. This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

This standard specifies principles for the design and selection - independent of the nature of the energy source – of interlocking devices associated with guards (as defined in 3.23.1 "interlocking device [interlock]", 3.22.4 "interlocking guard" and 3.22.5 "interlocking guard with guard locking" of EN 292-1:1991). It also provides requirements specifically intended for electrical interlocking devices (see clause 6). This standard covers the parts of guards which actuate interlocking devices. Requirements for guards are given in prEN 953. The processing of the signal from the interlocking device to stop and immobilize the machine is dealt with in prEN 954-1.
