This International Standard specifies the safety requirements for single-capped fluorescent lamps for general lighting purposes of all groups having 2G7, 2GX7, GR8, 2G10, G10q, GR10q, GX10q, GY10q, 2G11, G23, GX23, G24, GX24 and GX32 caps. It also specifies the method a manufacturer should use to show compliance with the requirements of this standard on the basis of whole production appraisal in association with his test records on finished products. This method can also be applied for certification purposes. Details of a batch test procedure which can be used to make limited assessment of batches are also given in this standard. NOTE - Compliance with this standard concerns only safety criteria and does not take into account the performance of single-capped fluorescent lamps for general lighting purposes with respect to luminous flux, colour, starting and operational characteristics. For this information, readers are referred to IEC 60901.

This International Standard specifies the performance requirements for single-capped fluorescent lamps for general lighting service. The requirements of this standard relate only to type testing. Conditions of compliance, including methods of statistical assessment, are under consideration. The following lamp types and modes of operation with external ballasts are included: a) lamps operated with an internal means of starting, having preheated cathodes, for oper-ation on a.c. mains frequencies; b) lamps operated with an external means of starting, having preheated cathodes, for operation on a.c. mains frequencies with the use of a starter, and additionally operating on high frequency; c) lamps operated with an external means of starting, having preheated cathodes, for oper-ation on a.c. mains frequencies without the use of a starter (starterless), and additionally operating on high frequency; d) lamps operated with an external means of starting, having preheated cathodes, for oper-ation on high frequency; e) lamps operated with an external means of starting, having non-preheated cathodes, for operation on high frequency.

This part of IEC 60432 specifies the safety and the related interchangeability requirements of tungsten halogen lamps for general lighting service. It covers those tungsten halogen lamps that are used as direct replacements for conventional tungsten filament lamps as well as new tungsten halogen lamps which have no correspondence in IEC 60432-1, but for which the safety and interchangeability requirements are treated by this standard in conjunction with IEC 60432-1. These tungsten halogen lamps have the following characteristics: - rated wattage up to and including 250 W; - rated voltage of 50 V to 250 V inclusive; - caps B15d, B22d, E12, E14, E17, E26, E26d, E26/50×39, E27 or E27/51×39. Lamps complying with this standard are self-shielded, but need not be marked with a special symbol. As they are direct replacements for conventional tungsten filament lamps, there will be no corresponding luminaire marking. NOTE 1 There is no implication that a tungsten halogen lamp used as a substitute for an incandescent tungsten filament lamp would use the same bulb shape as the original incandescent lamp. NOTE 2 There are two variations of E26 caps which are not fully compatible: E26/24 caps used in North America and E26/25 caps used in Japan. NOTE 3 Self-shielded lamps are lamps for which the luminaire needs no protective shield.

This International Standard specifies the safety requirements for discharge lamps (excluding fluorescent lamps) for general lighting purposes. This International Standard is applicable to low-pressure sodium vapour lamps and to high-intensity discharge (HID) lamps, i.e. high-pressure mercury vapour lamps (including blended lamps), high-pressure sodium vapour lamps and metal halide lamps. It applies to single- and double-capped lamps, having caps as listed in annex A. NOTE This standard only concerns safety criteria and does not take into account performance. The performance standards IEC 60188, IEC 60192, IEC 60662, IEC 61167 and IEC 61549 should be referred to for such characteristics. It may be expected that lamps which comply with this standard will operate safely at supply voltages between 90 % and 110 % of rated supply voltage and when operated with a ballast complying with IEC 60922 and IEC 60923, with a starting device complying with IEC 60926 and IEC 60927, and in a luminaire complying with IEC 60598-1.

This European Standard has been produced under Standardization Mandate M/202 in response to the European Commission Directive implementing Council Directive 92/75/EEC with regard to energy labelling of household lamps. A method of classification of lamps according to energy efficiency is given in the Directive and is not a part of this standard. This standard specifies the test conditions and method of measurement of luminous flux, lamp wattage and lamp life as given on a label on the lamp packaging, together with a procedure for verification of the declared values. Only those parameters that are specific to the above mentioned Directive are included in this standard. All other parameters are included in the relevant lamp performance standards. Lamps covered by this standard are: —mains voltage tungsten filament lamps; —mains voltage tungsten halogen lamps; —self-ballasted lamps; —double-capped fluorescent lamps; —single-capped fluorescent lamps.

International Standard IEC 60432-1 specifies the safety and interchangeability requirements of tungsten filament incandescent lamps for general lighting service having: - rated wattage up to and including 200 W; - rated voltage of 50 V to 250 V inclusive; - bulbs of the A, B, C, G, M, P, PS, PAR or R shapes, or other bulb shapes where the lamps are intended to serve the same purpose as lamps with the foregoing bulb shapes; - bulbs with all kinds of finishes; - caps B15d, B22d, E12, E14, E17, E26, E26d, E26/50×39, E27 or E27/51×39. As far as is reasonably practicable, this standard is also applicable to lamps with bulbs and caps other than those mentioned above, but which serve the same purpose. This standard specifies the method a manufacturer should use to show that his product conforms to this standard on the basis of whole production appraisal in association with his test records on finished products. This method can also be applied for certification purposes. Details of a batch test procedure which can be used to make limited assessment of batches are also given. This standard is concerned with safety criteria only and does not take into account the performance of tungsten filament lamps with respect to luminous flux, life or power consumption characteristics. Readers should refer to IEC 60064 for such characteristics with respect to types normally used for general lighting service. note: * See IEC 60887 for description of the letter symbols.
