This Standard specifies the a.c. supplied electronic ballasts for fluorescent lamps intended for use indoor or in luminaire, to light fluorescent lamps specified in JIS C 7601 [excluding compact type fluorescent lamps (integral with starter) in 4.2.1 c)] and the low pressure mercury germicidal discharge lamps specified in JIS C 7605 (here- after referred to as "lamps"), which have a rated input voltage not exceeding 300 V at 50 Hz, 60 Hz, or 50/60 Hz in common and a rated secondary voltage not exceeding 1 000 V and are used in general place (hereafter referred to as "ballasts"). However, the ballasts without enclosure and integrated with a luminaire are excluded. The ballasts integrated with a luminaire are as shown in 3.1.3 (integral lamp con- trol gear) of JIS C 8147-1.

This part of IEC 61347 specifies general and safety requirements for lamp controlgear for use on d.c. supplies up to 250 V and/or a.c. supplies up to 1 000 V at 50 Hz or 60 Hz. This standard also covers lamp controlgear for lamps which are not yet standardized. Tests dealt with in this standard are type tests. Requirements for testing individual lamp controlgear during production are not included. Requirements for semi-luminaires are given in IEC 60598-1 (see definition 1.2.60). In addition to the requirements given in this Part 1 of IEC 61347, Annex B sets out general and safety requirements applicable to thermally protected lamp controlgear. Annex C sets out additional general and safety requirements as they apply to electronic lamp controlgear with means of protection against overheating. Additional requirements for built-in ballasts with double or reinforced insulation are given in Annex I.

IEC 60238:2008 圆螺纹灯座

This International Standard applies to lampholders with Edison thread E14, E27 and E40, designed for connection to the supply of lamps and semi-luminaires* only. It also applies to switched-lampholders for use in a.c. circuits only, where the working voltage does not exceed 250 V r.m.s. This standard also applies to lampholders with Edison thread E5 designed for connection to the supply mains of series connected lamps, with a working voltage not exceeding 25 V, to be used indoors, and to lampholders with Edison thread El0 designed for connection to the supply mains of series connected lamps, with a working voltage not exceeding 60 V, to be used indoors or outdoors. It also applies to lampholders El0 for building-in, for the connection of single lamps to the supply. These lampholders are not intended for retail sale. As far as it reasonably applies, this standard also covers lampholders other than lampholders with Edison thread designed for connection of series-connected lamps to the supply. NOTE This type of lampholder is for example used in Christmas tree lighting chains. As far as it reasonably applies, this standard also covers adapters. This standard also covers lampholders which are, wholly or partly, integral with a luminaire or intended to be built into appliances. It covers the requirements for the lampholder only. For all other requirements, such as protection against electric shock in the area of the terminals or of the lamp cap, the requirements of the relevant appliance standard shall be observed and tested after building into the appropriate equipment, when that equipment is tested according to its own standard. Such lampholders as well as lampholders provided with a snap-on outer shell, for use by luminaire manufacturers only, are not for retail sale. This standard applies to lampholders to be used indoors or outdoors in residential as well as in industrial lighting installations. It also applies to candle lampholders. In locations where special conditions prevail, as for street lighting, on board ships, in vehicles and in hazardous locations, e.g. where explosions are liable to occur, special constructions may be required. NOTE 1 This standard does not apply to three-light lampholders E26d. NOTE 2 This standard is based on the following data relative to lamps for general lighting service: - caps E14 are used for lamps with a current not exceeding 2 A; - caps E27 are used for lamps with a current not exceeding 4 A; - caps E40 are used for lamps with a current not exceeding 16 A. NOTE 3 If the nominal voltage of the supply does not exceed 130 V, the maximum current for caps E4O is 32 A (see 4.5 and 5.3). NOTE 4 Where lampholders are used in luminaires, their maximum operating temperatures are specified in IEC 60598.

This part of IEC 60838 applies to lampholders of miscellaneous types intended for building-in (to be used with general purpose light sources, projection lamps, floodlighting lamps and street-lighting lamps with caps as listed in annex A) and the methods of test to be used in determining the safe use of lamps in lampholders. This part of IEC 60838 also covers lampholders which are integral with a luminaire. It covers the requirements for the lampholder only. This part of IEC 60838 also covers lampholders integrated in an outer shell and dome similar to Edison screw lampholders. Such lampholders are further tested in accordance with the following subclauses of IEC 60238: 8.4; 8.5; 8.6; 9.3; 10.7; 11; 12.2; 12.5; 12.6; 12.7; 13; 15.3; 15.4; 15.5 and 15.9. Requirements for lampholders for tubular fluorescent lamps, Edison screw lampholders and bayonet lampholders are covered by separate standards.

Miscellaneous lampholders - Part 1: General requirements and tests

This standard applies to devices for the connection of luminaires (DCL) intended for household and similar purposes, for the electrical connection of fixed luminaires of class I or class II to final circuits rated at not more than 16 A without providing a mechanical support for the luminaire. DCLs are intended for use according to their IP rating per EN 60529. Outlets have an earthing contact and a rated current of 6 A, plugs are rated at 6 A. The rated voltage is 250 V at 50 Hz.NOTE 1 This standard does not cover integrated DCL-plugs (under consideration). This standard can also be applied to types other than those with standardised interface. NOTE 2 Void.DCL plugs and DCL outlets complying with this standard are suitable for use under the following conditions: – an ambient temperature not normally exceeding 25 °C, but occasionally reaching 35 °C; NOTE 3 The effect of the heat generated by the luminaire may affect the ambient temperature local to the DCL. – a temperature not exceeding 70 °C at the terminals of the DCL outlet including the effect of heat generated by the luminaire and the passage of current. NOTE 4 The requirements and tests of this standard may also be used as a guide when testing DCL's which have different interface configurations or ratings.

This Standard specifies performance requirements for magnetic ballasts for discharge lamps such as high-pressure mercury vapour lamps specified in JIS C 7604, low-pres- sure sodium vapour lamps specified in JIS C 7610, high-pressure sodium vapour lamps specified in JIS C 7621 and metal halide lamps specified in JIS C 7623, for use on a.c. supplies up to 1 000 V at 50 Hz or 60 Hz, having the rated secondary voltage up to 1 000 V to be used in general locations (hereafter referred to as "ballasts"). Clauses 1 through 11 specify general requirements of ballasts, and clauses 12 through 15 each detail specific requirements for a particular type of ballast. It applies to complete ballasts and their component parts such as reactors, trans- formers and capacitors. This Standard specifies the requirements for a type test--it does not include the requirements for the tests of individual ballasts performed during manufacture. NOTE 1 For certain types of discharge lamps an ignitor is required. NOTE 2 Extension of the standard to cover ballasts incorporating, or for use with, series capacitors is under consideration. NOTE 3 The performance requirements of ballasts for tubular fluorescent lamps are covered by JIS C 8118. NOTE 4 There are regional standards regarding the regulation of mains current harmonics for end-products such as tuminaires and independent con- trol gear. In a luminaire the control gear is dominant in this respect. Control gear, together with other components, should comply with these standards.
