This part of IEC 61747 gives the details of the quality assessment procedures and provides general rules for visual inspection of the active area of transmissive type active matrix colour liquid crystal display modules by the human eye. Furthermore@ this standard includes defect definitions and the method for visual defect inspection. NOTE 1 Mura is excluded from this standard because it was not clearly specified at the time this standard was developed. NOTE 2 Restrictions on defect types@ number@ and sizes are specified in the quality contract (customer acceptance specification and incoming inspection specification) between panel and set makers.

"This part of IEC 61747 gives details of the quality assessment procedures@ the inspection requirements@ screening sequences@ sampling requirements@ and test and measurement procedures required for the assessment of liquid crystal display modules. This standard is restricted to reflective liquid crystal display-modules using either segment@ passive or active matrix and a-chromatic or colour type LCDs (see Note). Furthermore@ the reflective modes of transflective LCD modules with backlights OFF and reflective LCD modules of front light type without its front-light-unit@ are comprised in this standard. A reflective LCD module with combination of a touch-key-panel or a front-light-unit is out of the scope of this standard@ because its measurements are frequently inaccurate. Its touch-keypanel or front-light-unit should be removed before it can be included in this scope. NOTE Several points of view with respect to the preferred terminology on ""monochrome""@ ""achromatic""@ ""chromatic""@ ""colour""@ ""full-colour""@ etc. can be encountered in the field amongst spectroscopists@ (general-) physicists@ colour-perception scientists@ physical engineers and electrical engineers. In general@ all LCDs demonstrate some sort of chromaticity (e.g. as function of viewing angle@ ambient temperature or externally addressable means). Pending detailed official description of the subject@ the pre-fix pertaining to the ""chromaticity"" of the display will be used so as to describe the colour capability of the display that is externally (and electrically) addressable by the user. This leads us to the following definitions (see also [19]) a) a monochrome display has NO user-addressable chromaticity (""colours""). It may or may not be ""black and white"" or a-chromatic; b) a colour display has at least two user-addressable chromaticities (""colours""). A 64-colour display has 64 addressable colours (often made using 2 bits per primary for 3 primaries)@ etc. A full-colour display has at least 6 bits per primary (??260 thousand colours). The purpose of this standard is to indicate and list the procedure-dependent parameters and to prescribe the specific methods and conditions that are to be used for their uniform numerical determination."

This part of IEC 61788 specifies the measurement method of total AC losses by the pickup coil method in composite superconducting wires exposed to a transverse alternating magnetic field. The losses may contain hysteresis, coupling and eddy current losses. The standard method to measure only the hysteresis loss in DC or low-sweep-rate magnetic field is specified in IEC 61788-13 [2]. In metallic and oxide round superconducting wires expected to be mainly used for pulsed coil and AC coil applications, AC loss is generated by the application of time-varying magnetic field and/or current. The contribution of the magnetic field to the AC loss is predominant in usual electromagnetic configurations of the coil applications. For the superconducting wires exposed to a transverse alternating magnetic field, the present method can be generally used in measurements of the total AC loss in a wide range of frequency up to the commercial level, 50/60 Hz, at liquid helium temperature. For the superconducting wires with fine filaments, the AC loss measured with the present method can be divided into the hysteresis loss in the individual filaments, the coupling loss among the filaments and the eddy current loss in the normal conducting parts. In cases where the wires do not have a thick outer normal conducting sheath, the main components are the hysteresis loss and the coupling loss by estimating the former part as an extrapolated level of the AC loss per cycle to zero frequency in the region of lower frequency, where the coupling loss per cycle is proportional to the frequency.
