This International Standard applies to the generation of electromagnetic energy from sound and television receivers for the reception of broadcast and similar transmissions and from associated equipment. The frequency range covered extends from 9 kHz to 400 GHz. No measurements need be performed at frequencies where no limits are specified. Receiving systems for collective reception, in particular: – cable distribution head ends (Community Antenna Television, CATV); – community reception systems (Master Antenna Television, MATV) are covered by IEC 60728-2. Broadcast receivers for digital signals are covered by Annex A and Annex B. Information technology equipment (ITE) is excluded, even if intended to be connected to a television broadcast receiver. The telecommunication port of broadcast receivers, intended to be connected to a telecommunication network, is covered by CISPR 22. In addition, measurements at the telecommunication port are performed with the broadcast reception functions, which are independent from the telecommunication function, disabled during the measurement. PC tuner cards are measured according to the relevant clauses of this standard. This standard describes the methods of measurement applicable to sound and television receivers or associated equipment and specifies limits for the control of disturbance from such equipment. For multifunction equipment which is subjected simultaneously to different clauses of this standard and/or other standards, details are given in 4.1.

This European Standard defines routine test procedures for use during or after manufacturing of complete equipments, sub-assemblies or components, certified or declared as complying with EN 60065 or EN 60950-1 and powered by an a.c. or d.c. mains supply. The definitions, measuring conditions and methods common to both consumer and professional equipment are described in the IEC 61606-1. This standard contains details of definitions and measuring conditions and methods applicable to professional equipment which differ from those described in IEC 61606-1. This standard excludes consideration of − measurement of low-quality audio devices, − measurement of low-bit-rate audio devices (‘sub-band’ or ‘perceptual’ coding devices), − measurement of devices which significantly modify time or frequency characteristics of the signal, such as pitch shifters or reverberators, − measurement of signals from analogue input to analogue output, beyond the most general, − EMC and safety related testing.

The purpose of this specification is to recommend mechanical and electrical standards for broadband radio frequency (RF) devices whose primary purpose is to amplify signals presented to an input port and deliver the amplified signals to one or more output ports. The devices are also required to pass signals in a different range of frequencies in the return direction and, optionally, may provide amplification of such return signals. The specification's scope is limited to 75ohm devices whose ports are provided with F connectors. The most common use for such devices is on-premises RF signal distribution.

CEA-2006-B defines characteristics that, considered collectively, describe the performance of power amplifiers designed for use in mobile applications. Power amplifiers designed for use in mobile applications include, but are not limited to: separate single and multi-channel amplifiers, integrated amplifiers and bandwidth-limited amplifiers that are connected to and rely solely on the vehicle's primary electrical system for power input and have output power ratings of greater than 5 watts when measurement in accordance with CEA-2006-B.
