This European Standard applies to heating and cooling systems embedded into the enclosure surfaces of the room to be heated or to be cooled. This document deals with the use in practical engineering of the results coming from part 2 and 5 and is applicable to floor-, ceiling- and wall heating systems, as well floor-, ceiling- and wall cooling systems. For heating systems, physiological limitations are taken into account when specifying the surface temperatures. In the case of floor heating systems the limitations are realised by a design based on the characteristic curves and limit curves determined in accordance with part 2 of this Standard. For cooling systems, only a limitation with respect to the dew point is taken into account. In predominating practice, this means that physiological limitations are included as well.

This part of EN 746 specifies common safety requirements for industrial thermoprocessing equipment (for example industrial furnaces and industrial heating equipment), which meets the definition for machinery given in EN ISO 12100-1:2003. It details the anticipated significant hazards associated with industrial thermoprocessing equipment and specifies the appropriate preventative measures for reduction or elimination of these hazards. This standard gives general principles and common requirements for the reduction of risks for equipments covered by the scope. The common requirements apply to all of the subsequent parts of this EN 746 dealing with specific equipment unless an exception is stated in the relevant Part. The general principles (subclauses are pointed out) will be used to establish the specific technical measures in the subsequent Part(s) dealing with safety requirements for particular equipment. NOTE For similar equipment not covered by the particular Parts of this standard, EN 746-1 can be used to assist in the reduction of risk for the Hazards identified in clause 4 (List of Hazards). This part of EN 746 is applicable to industrial thermoprocessing equipments for use in fields such as: Metallurgical and metal working plant; Glass making plant; Ceramic manufacturing plant; Cement, lime and gypsum manufacturing plant; Chemical plant; Waste incineration equipment; And heated by: Gaseous fuels; Liquid fuels; Solid fuels; Mixed fuels; Electricity. The thermoprocessing equipment covered by this Part of EN 746 is further specified in clause 3. A more detailed list of thermoprocessing equipment within these categories is given in Annex A. In the remainder of this standard the expression "equipment" will be used. This Part of EN 746 is not applicable to blast furnaces, converters (in steel plants), boilers, welding machines or food processing equipment. This Part of EN 746 specifies the requirements to be met by the manufacturer to ensure the safety of persons and property during commissioning, start-up, operation, shut-down, maintenance periods and dismantling, as well as in the event of foreseeable faults or malfunctions which can occur in the equipment. It specifies the safety requirements at stages in the life of the equipment, and its design, ordering, construction, use and disposal. It specifies safety requirements for: Protection against: Mechanical hazards, movement of machinery and material, ejection of parts or material or liquids and gases, implosion, structural failure; Electrical hazards; Thermal hazards: explosion, fire, scalds, contact with hot parts, gases and flames; Noise and vibration; Thermal, optical and ionising and non-ionising radiation; Harmful by-products and hazardous substances, poisoning, biological and microbiological contamination, pollution and environmental discomfort; Other hazards such as listed in clause 4; maintenance, provision for indicators, and inspection. This part of EN 746 applies to equipment which is placed on the market after the date of issue of this standard.

This European Standard is part of a set of standards on the method for calculation of system energy requirements and system efficiencies. The scope of this specific part is to standardise for photovoltaic systems: -- required inputs; -- calculation method; -- resulting outputs. The calculation method applies only to building integrated photovoltaic systems. The calculation method does not take into account: electrical storage; PV/thermal photovoltaic systems. The calculation method describes how to calculate the electricity production of photovoltaic systems. Primary energy savings and CO2 savings, which can be achieved by photovoltaic systems compared to other systems, are calculated according to prEN 15603. Standards linked to photovoltaic systems are listed in Annex A.

This part of EN 746 specifies safety requirements for atmosphere gas systems and their use in industrial thermo-processing equipment and associated plant, including systems for the production of atmosphere gases by reaction inside the thermo-processing equipment. It applies to the supply of atmosphere gases, gaseous and liquid additions to, and their removal from industrial thermo-processing equipment and associated plant, confined to equipment integrated in the thermo- processing and associated plant. This part of EN 746 also details the anticipated significant hazards associated with atmosphere gas systems and their use in industrial thermo-processing equipment and specifies the appropriate preventative measures for the reduction or elimination of these hazards. This part of EN 746 does not apply to atmosphere process gases, essential safety equipment, start-up, operation and shut-down of thermo-processing plant for semi-conductor devices for which special additional engineering requirements are necessary. This part of EN 746 specifies the requirements to be met to ensure the safety of persons and property during commissioning, start up, operation, shut down and maintenance, as well as in the event of foreseeable faults or malfunctions which can occur in the equipment. It specifies the safety requirements at stages in the life of the equipment, and its design, ordering, construction and use. This part of EN 746 applies to equipment which is placed on the market after the date of issue of this standard. The hazards covered by this Part of EN 746 are listed in clause 4. A table of typical atmosphere gases is given in Annex A.

This European Standard specifies the boundary conditions and the prove methods for the determination of the thermal output of hot water floor heating systems as a function of the temperature difference between the heating medium and the room temperature. This standard shall be applied to commercial trade and practical engineering if proved and certifiable values of the thermal output shall be used. This European Standard applies to heating and cooling systems embedded into the enclosure surfaces of the room to be heated or to be cooled. This Part of this European Standard applies to hot water floor heating systems. Applying of Part 5 of this European Standard requires the prior use of this Part of this European Standard. Part 5 of this European Standard deals with the conversion of the thermal output of floor heating systems determined in Part 2 into the thermal output of heating surfaces embedded in walls and ceilings as well as into the thermal output of cooling surfaces embedded in floors, walls and ceilings. The thermal output is proved by a calculation method (Clause 6) and by a test method (Clause 9). The calculation method is applicable to systems corresponding to the definitions in EN 1264-1 (type A, type B, type C, type D). For systems not corresponding to these definitions, the test method shall be used. The calculation method and the test method are consistent with each other and provide correlating and adequate prove results. The prove results, expressed depending on further parameters, are the standard specific thermal output and the associated standard temperature difference between the heating medium and the room temperature as well as fields of characteristic curves showing the relationship between the specific thermal output and the temperature difference between the heating medium and the room.

This European Standard is applicable to water based surface heating and cooling systems in residential, commercial and industrial buildings. The methods apply to systems integrated into the wall, floor or ceiling construction without any open air gaps. The methods do not apply to heated or chilled ceiling panels or beams. This European Standard provides steady-state calculation methods for determination of the heating and cooling capacity (part 1). This European Standard estimates an equivalent system resistance to be used in dynamic building simulation programs. This European Standard applies also, as appropriate, to the use of other fluids instead of water. A separate standard provides a method for design, dimensioning and installation of the system (part 2). This European Standard is not applicable for testing or certification of systems. A separate standard provides a method and guidance on how to optimise the design for use of renewable energy sources and take system dynamic effects into account (part 3).

This European Standard is part of a series of standards on the method for calculation of system energy requirements and system efficiencies of space heating systems and domestic hot water systems. The scope of this specific part is to standardise the: -- required inputs; -- calculation method; -- resulting outputs; for space heating generation by combustion sub-systems (boilers), including control. This European Standard is the general standard on generation by combustion sub-systems (boilers). If a combustion generation sub-system is within the scope of another specific part of the EN 15316 series (i.e. part 4.x), the latter shall be used. EXAMPLE Biomass combustion generation sub-systems are within the scope of prEN 15316-4-7. This European Standard is also intended for the case of generation for both domestic hot water production and space heating. The case of generation only for domestic hot water production is treated in EN 15316-3- 3.

This European Standard covers heat pumps for space heating, heat pump water heaters (HPWH) and heat pumps with combined space heating and domestic hot water production in alternate or simultaneous operation, where the same heat pump delivers the heat to cover the space heating and domestic hot water heat requirement. The scope of this part is to standardise the: required inputs, calculation methods, -- resulting outputs, for heat generation by the following heat pump systems, including control, for space heating and domestic hot water production: -- electrically-driven vapour compression cycle (VCC) heat pumps, combustion engine-driven vapour compression cycle heat pumps,-- thermally-driven vapour absorption cycle (VAC) heat pumps, using combinations of heat source and heat distribution as listed in Table 1.
