Although extreme environmental conditions have little effect on the process of applying gypsum board, special procedures or precautions should be observed during the application and drying of joint compounds and adhesives. When weather conditions are extreme, either hot, cold, humid, or dry, the drying times of joint treatment materials are affected. Hot, dry weather accelerates drying; cold weather slows drying and increases the risk of freezing; wet or humid weather slows drying. Weather shifts from one extreme to another can cause movement in wood framing (moisture related) or in steel framing (temperature related) which can have an effect on the final appearance of any given project.

1.1 This practice covers a procedure for detecting sources of variation in a test method. The procedure should be used during the development of a test method, before the interlaboratory study is executed, such as those in Practices C 670, C 802, and E 691. Interlaboratory studies can be expensive to execute. Resources will probably be more efficiently used if sources of variation in a test method are eliminated prior to performing the interlaboratory study. The procedure also is useful for determining sources of variation in an existing test method that has been found to have poor precision.1.2 This practice covers, in very general terms, techniques for planning, collecting data, and analyzing results from a few laboratories. provides the details of the procedure with an example and gives the theoretical background.1.3 The practice does not give information pertinent to estimating within- or between-laboratory precision. This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

1.1 This practice covers a procedure for detecting and reducing sources of variation in a test method early in its development and prior to an interlaboratory study. One of the main purposes of the procedure, by means of a ruggedness or screening program, is the elimination of test methods that exhibit poor precision even after vigorous efforts to reduce their variability. 1.2 This practice covers, in very general terms, techniques for planning, conducting, and analyzing results from a few laboratories to establish whether a well written test method is good enough to justify an interlaboratory study. Annex A1 provides the details of the procedure with an example and Annex A2 gives the theoretical background. 1.3 This practice is intended to be used before spending the time and money required to conduct a full scale interlaboratory study, such as those in Practices C670, C802, or E691. 1.4 This standard may involve hazardous materials, operations, and equipment. This standard does not purport to address all of the safety problems associated with its use. It is the responsibility of whoever uses this standard to consult and establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

This International Standard specifies methods for the determination of declared and design thermal values for thermally homogeneous building materials and products. It also gives procedures to convert values obtained under one set of conditions to those valid for another set of conditions. These procedures are valid for design ambient temperatures between -30 ℃ and +60 ℃. Conversion coefficients for temperature, valid for mean temperatures between 0 ℃ and 30 ℃, and moisture are given in annex A. This International Standard does not give any conversion coefficients for the effect of ageing or other effects like convection or settlement.

This standard gives specific technical criteria to be used within the frame of the general criteria given in EN 45001 and EN 45002 for the assessment of laboratories performing heat transfer property measurements of building products and components according to standardized test methods. It is relevant both to assessments conducted internally and to those carried out formally by an accreditation body, and is intended to be of assistance to all interested parties. It gives contents of the documentation required by EN 45001 (equipment manual, calibration and maintenance files, measurement procedure document) and the procedures for the assessment of equipment accuracy and performance check. All other requirements regarding laboratories undertaking heat transfer property measurements are given in the EN 45000 series. This part 1 of this standard gives assessment requirements common to various test methods; the subsequent parts give assessment requirements, which are relevant to each test method The application of this standard assumes an adequate level of competence for the personnel involved.

1.1 This practice covers the determination of random locations (or timing) at which samples of construction materials can be taken. For the exact physical procedures for securing the sample, such as a description of the sampling tool, the number of increments needed for a sample, or the size of the sample, reference should be made to the appropriate standard method. The selection procedures in Section 4 utilize the table of three-digit numbers given in Table 1. 1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The SI units in parentheses are for information only. 1.3. This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

The objective of this guide is to describe procedures and data sources for conducting risk characterization of acute inhalation exposure to chemicals emitted from bedding sets. Risk characterization can be used to identify chemical(s) that pose potentially significant human health risks for the scenario(s) and population(s) selected for exposure assessment. Such identification of chemicals can help in identifying the components or materials used in manufacture of bedding sets that should be further examined. Risk characterization also includes an assessment of potential odor problems for any individual chemical emitted by the bedding set.1.1 This guide provides guidance to individuals and organizations for conducting risk characterization of exposure to volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) emitted from bedding sets or an ensemble of a mattress and supporting box spring.1.2 This guide is for risk characterization of short-term exposures to a new bedding set brought into a residential indoor environment. The risk characterization considerations presented in this guide are applicable to both the general population and sensitive subgroups, such as convalescing adults.1.3 The risk characterization addressed in this guide is limited to acute health and irritation effects resulting from short-term exposure to VOCs in indoor air. Although certain procedures described in this guide may be applicable to assessing long-term exposure, the guide does not address cancer and other chronic health effects.1.4 VOC emissions from bedding sets, as in the case of other household furnishings, usually are highest when the products are new. A used bedding set may also emit VOCs, either from the original materials or as a result of its use. The procedures presented in this guide also are applicable to used bedding sets.1.5 Risk characterization procedures described in this guide should be carried out under the supervision of a qualified toxicologist or risk assessment specialist, or both. This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to its use.
