This European Standard specifies the characteristics and performance of factory made cast gypsum elements, for which the main intended uses are the construction of suspended ceilings under universal substrates. It covers the following product performance characteristics: reaction to fire, water vapour permeability, flexural strength (expressed as breaking load) and thermal resistance (expressed as thermal conductivity). The following performance characteristics are linked to systems assembled with gypsum elements for suspended ceilings: fire resistance, direct airborne sound insulation and acoustic absorption, which can be measured according to the corresponding European test methods. If required, tests should be done on assembled system simulating the end use conditions. This European Standard describes the reference tests for technical specifications. This European Standard also covers additional technical characteristics that are of importance for the use and the acceptance of the product by the construction industry and the reference tests for these characteristics. It provides for the evaluation of conformity of the product to this European Standard. This European Standard does not cover metal ceiling grids or plasterboard products. This European Standard excludes stiffening timber roof truss structure applications.

This European Standard specifies the characteristics and performance of thermal/acoustic insulation composite panels made of an insulating material laminated to gypsum plasSerboards for which the main intended use is the internal insulation (thermal and/or acoustic) of walls. They are attached with adhesives or by mechanical fixings to vertical solid backgrounds and by mechanical fixings to wood or metal framing with the plasterr)oard face exposed. The method of fixing and jointing shall ensure that the insulating material is not exposed in its normal application This European Standard covers the following performances characteristics: reaction to fire. fire resistance, water vapour permeability, flexural strength, impact resistance, direct airborne sound insulation and thermal resistance to be measured according to the corresponding European test methods. It provides for the evaluation of conformity of the products to this European Standard. This European Standard covers also additional technical characteristics that are of importance for the use and acceptance of the product by the construction industry.

Each abuse/impact property of abuse resistant wall panels is divided into three classification levels. The three levels of classification are: Level I, Level II, and Level III, with Level I representing the lowest rating for any given property. The test methods specified are utilized to establish the abuse-resistance classification of an abuse resistant wall panel. Each classification level requires a minimum overall specified performance. Any classified abuse resistant wall panel can be used at a classification level which is rated lower than the highest level qualified.1.1 This standard establishes classifications of abuse resistance based on minimum abuse-resistance performance of nondecorated interior gypsum panel products and fiber-reinforced cement panels (abuse resistant wall panels). 1.2 The values stated in inch-pound and SI (metric) units are to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text, the SI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in each system shall be used independent of the other. Values from the two systems shall not be combined. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

This European Standard specifies the characteristics and performance of products which have been produced from gypsum plasterboards manufactured according to EN 520 by reprocessing. Reprocessing may include cutting, perforating, edge profiling, decorating and laminating membranes of other materials for functional or decorative purposes, attaching fixings including supports e.g. for partitions. A fuller list of reprocessing operations is given in Annex B. Gypsum plasterboards subject to reprocessing operations may be suitable for extended applications such as suspended ceilings providing sound absorption, flooring, self decorative finishes, Iow emissivity characteristics, moisture vapour control and X-ray protection. The products are intended for use in wall, ceiling and floor applications, where they may be fixed direct to the background, or they are used in systems assembled in conjunction with the structure to form separate or suspended linings. The products offer a wide range of aesthetic solutions of modular or non-modular design. This standard covers the following product performance characteristics: reaction to fire, water vapour permeability, stability in case of ceiling elements, fiexural strength (breaking load), impact resistance, thermal resistance. The following performance characteristics are linked to systems assembled with products from reprocessing: shear strength, direct airborne sound insulation and acoustic absorption to be measured according to the corresponding European test methods. If required, tests should be done on assembled systems simulating the end use conditions. This European standard also covers additional technical characteristics that are of importance for the use and acceptance of the product by the construction industry and the reference tests for these characteristics. It provides for the evaluation of conformity of the product to this standard. This standard does not cover gypsum plasterboard thermal/acoustic insulation composite panels and prefabricated gypsum wallboard panels according to prEN 13950 and prEN 13915, respectively.
