This European Standard specifies the additional requirements and test methods for gas-fired air heaters which are designed so that water vapour condenses from combustion products. On this subject, it extends the European Standards EN 778 and EN 1319 for domestic air heaters, and EN 1020 for non-domestic air heaters. This European Standard applies to gas-fired air heaters with or without a fan in the combustion circuit in one of the following constructional types:  an integral air heater with at least one condensing heat exchanger;  a non-condensing air heater with an integrated additional condensing heat exchanger;  a non-condensing air heater, with an integrated additional condensing heat exchanger for the recovery of heat from combustion products and from ventilation air if appropriate. This British Standard specifies the installation requirements for direct and indirect gas-fired forced convection air heaters for space heating that are designed for commercial or industrial applications and to which The Gas Appliances (Safety) Regulations 1995 [1] apply. This British Standard applies to the installation and maintenance of appliances that are designed to utilize gases of Group H of the 2nd family (e.g. natural gas), gases of Group P of the 3rd family (e.g. propane) as well as gases of Group B of the 3rd family (e.g. butane) when supplied under the conditions of the third family pressure couple (see BS EN 437:2003+A1:2009). NOTE 1 This British Standard does not specifically cover LPG/air for which additional requirements might be necessary. This British Standard applies to the installation of direct gas-fired air heaters within the scope of BS EN 525:2009 and to indirect gas-fired forced convection air heaters within the scope of BS EN 621:2009, BS EN 1020:2009 and, where appropriate, BS EN 1196:1998. These standards cover air heaters having a net heat input not exceeding 300 kW. This standard also applies to the installation of direct gas-fired air heaters within the scope of BS 5990:2006 and to indirect gas-fired forced convection air heaters within the scope of BS 5991:1998. These standards cover air heaters having a gross heat input greater than 330 kW but not exceeding 2 MW (1.8 MW net). NOTE 2 For the purposes of this British Standard, installation includes design, inspection and commissioning. It is recognized that each of the tasks can be performed at the same time by different persons. NOTE 3 The ratio of gross to net heat input is approximately 1.11:1 for Group H (natural gas), 1.09:1 for Group P (propane) and 1.08:1 for Group B (butane). NOTE 4 The ventilation rates in cm2/kW of heat input given in this British Standard are based on the net calorific value. This British Standard also applies to air heaters designed to supply make-up air, door curtain heaters, transportable air heaters and heat exchange modules (i.e. air heaters without a main air movement fan) where such heat exchange modules are used in environmental non-process applications such as air handling units. It also covers installation of heaters in areas where petroleum or other flammable heavier-than-air vapours can be present (see 5.1.2). It does not include the safety requirements for installation where flammable dusts, toxic gases or flammable lighter-than-air gases might be present in significant quantities. NOTE 5 In such cases it is important that liaison takes place with the Health and Safety Executive. This British Standard does not apply to the installation of air heaters to which The Gas Appliances (Safety) Regulations 1995 apply, or that are designed for the sole use in domestic premises.

It applies to piping subject to the maximum allowable temperatures for which nominal design stresses for materials are derived using EN 14276-1-2006+A1 or as specified in this european standard. In addition piping designed to this standard needs to have a maximum design temperature not exceeding 200℃ and a maximum design pressure not exceeding 64 bar. Outside of these limits, EN 13480 should be used for the design construction and inspection of the piping. under these circumstances the unique nature of a refrigerating plant, as indicated in the introduction of EN 14276-1-2006+A1, needs also to be taken into account. 1.7 This European Standard applies to piping where the main pressure bearing parts are manufactured from metallic ductile materials as defined in Clause 4 and in EN 14276-1-2006+A1.

This European Standard specifies requirements and test methods for valves of prefabricated thermally insulated valve assemblies comprising a steel valve, rigid polyurethane foam insulation and an outer casing of polyethylene for use in directly buried hot water networks with pre-insulated pipe assemblies in accordance with EN 253. This European Standard applies only to insulated valve assemblies for continuous operation with hot water at various temperatures in accordance with EN 253:2009, Clause 1 and the valve assemblies with a maximum operation pressure of 25 bar. For higher pressures, additional demands apply. Guidelines for quality inspection are given in Annex A of this European Standard. NOTE For this application, the following valve types are commonly used: ball valves, gate valves, and butterfly valves. This European Standard does not include calculation rules for loads and stresses. These depend on the configuration of the system as it is installed. This European standard specifies the characteristics of safety, construction, performance and efficiency, the test methods and marking, of room sealed space heating equipment of type C (see CEN/TR 1749) with combustion air intake and outlet for the products of combustion in the wall, roof or floor, combined or not. These are referred to in the body of the text as "heaters", burning LPG, for vehicles and boats. This European standard only covers room sealed heaters also including those which have a combustion air fan, an integral hot air fan or both, only for vehicles and boats which are used for residential, recreational and commercial purposes. This European standard applies to heaters which are installed either outside or inside the habitable volume, but which have a combustion circuit sealed from the vehicle's interior, and nominal heat input which does not exceed 10 kW (Hs) operated at supply pressure of 30 mbar, 28 mbar, 37 mbar and 50 mbar, using, where appropriate, 12 V or 24 V DC electrical supply. Room sealed LPG space heating appliances for vehicles and boats are using very often warm air as a heat transfer medium. Annex B specifies additional requirements for appliances using water as a heat transfer medium. For private cars and vehicles or boats used for the transport of dangerous goods or for commercial personnel transport additional requirements may be necessary. This European standard does not cover requirements for storage water heaters (boilers) (see EN 15033). For appliances producing additional sanitary hot water (combi-boilers), see relevant clauses of EN 15033. NOTE If a LPG operated heater is installed in a motorized vehicle being subject to European road traffic legislation, the directives of the Council for the approximation of the laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the member states relating to the heating of the interior of motor vehicles should be applied. These heaters are also suitable for caravan holiday homes.
