This SAE Recommended Practice establishes limits for electrical circuits on motor vehicle safety glazing materials.
Motor Vehicle Glazing Electrical Circuits
This Standard provides the specifications and procedures for using the H-point machine (HPM1) to audit vehicle seating positions. The HPM is a physical tool used to establish key reference points and measurements in a vehicle. The H-point design tool (HPD) is a simplified CAD2 version of the HPM, which can be used in conjunction with the HPM to take the optional measurements specified in this document, or used independently during product design. These H-point devices provide a method for reliable layout and measurement of occupant seating compartments and/or seats. This document specifies the procedures for installing the H-point machine (HPM) to using the HPM to audit (verify) key reference points and measurements in a vehicle. The devices are intended for application at designated seating positions. They are not to be construed as tools that measure or indicate occupant capabilities or comfort. They are not intended for use in defining or assessing temporary seating, such as folding jump seats.

This document specifies the minimum recommendations for Blind Spot Monitoring System (BSMS) operational characteristics and elements of the user interface. A visual BSMS indicator is recommended. BSMS detects and conveys to the driver via a visual indicator the presence of a target (e.g., a vehicle), adjacent to the subject vehicle in the "traditional" Adjacent Blind Spot Zone (ABSZ). The BSMS is not intended to replace the need for interior and exterior rear-view mirrors or to reduce mirror size. BSMS is only intended as a supplement to these mirrors and will not take any automatic vehicle control action to prevent possible collisions. While the BSMS will assist drivers in detecting the presence of vehicles in their ABSZ, the absence of a visual indicator will not guarantee that the driver can safely make a lane change maneuver (e.g., vehicles may be approaching rapidly outside the ABSZ area). This document applies to original equipment and aftermarket BSMS systems for passenger vehicles. This document does not apply to installing a BSMS on either motorcycles or commercial vehicles. Finally, this document does not address Lane Change Warning systems, which monitor areas substantially farther back than the side blind spot areas monitored by the BSMS (See ISO FDIS 17387).

The terms included in the Glossary are general in nature and usually apply to more than one manufacturer's system. All terms apply to automotive inflatable restraint systems in general which are initiated by an electric or mechanical stimulus upon receipt of a signal from a sensor. These terms are intended to reflect existing designs and the Glossary will be updated as information on other types of systems becomes available.

The purpose of this SAE Recommended Practice is to describe design criteria pertaining to the location and labeling of hand controls, including embedded displays and controls when displayed, necessary to or frequently used during the operation of passenger cars, MPV, and trucks 10,000 GVW and under, designed for left-hand drive operation. The results of SAE human factors research have strongly influenced these recommendations, specifically in the areas of driver reach, control-locating performance, and control location expectancies. Deviations from this recommended practice should be made only after careful study of the various SAE publications on these subjects. This document does not include hand-held devices such as remote controls or cellular phones.

This International Standard specifies requirements and test methods for awnings for leisure accommodation vehicles. It applies to the different types of awnings described in Clause 4. This International Standard does not apply to sun awnings as defined in 3.4. Requirements concerning flame retardant finishing of the fabric could not be included in this International Standard because of known disadvantages of that finishing in other respects. Manufacturers who want to inform the consumer about that characteristic may mark the awning in accordance with ISO 10966:2005, 4.14.

This standard specifies methods for quantifying the effects of vehicle body motions on ride comfort for passengers and vehicle assessment with respect to ride comfort. The effect considered is: discomfort, associated with relatively low levels of acceleration and roll velocity. Other effects, not included in the standard, are associated with higher acceleration levels: health risk effect: physical damage and psychological deterioration. The standard applies to passengers travelling in railway vehicles on railway lines, including main, secondary and suburban lines. This standard could be used as a guide for other railway vehicles, for example locomotives, metros, trams, etc. The standard applies to passengers in good health. This standard applies to measurements of motions. It also applies to simulated motions.

This SAE Recommended Practice establishes a uniform laboratory test method to evaluate the strength characteristics of roof systems. The test procedure is intended to provide reliable and repeatable results and to permit numerical comparisons. A test is conducted in which the vehicle roof system is loaded under controlled laboratory conditions. Structural strength measurements are obtained under load application angles chosen to concentrate forces on the forward portions of the roof panel and roof supporting structure.
