This part of ISO 8820 specifies low-voltage fuse-links with tabs (blade type) for fuses in road vehicles. It establishes, for this fuse-link type, the rated current, test procedures, performance requirements and dimensions. This part of ISO 8820 is applicable to those fuse-links with a rated voltage of 32 V, a current rating of ≤ 80 A and a breaking capacity of 1 000 A, intended for use in road vehicles at a nominal voltage of 12 V or 24 V. This part of ISO 8820 is intended to be used in conjunction with ISO 8820-1, and with ISO 8820-2. The numbering of its clauses corresponds to that of ISO 8820-1, whose requirements are applicable, except where modified by requirements particular to this part of ISO 8820.

This International Standard specifies the dimensions, test methods, and requirements for single core 60 V cables intended for use in road vehicle applications where the nominal system voltage is (60 V DC or 25 V AC). It also specifies additional test methods and/or requirements for 600 V cables intended for use in road vehicle applications where the nominal system voltage is (60 V DC or 25 V AC) to (600 V DC or 600 V AC). It also applies to individual cores in multi-core cables. See ITO 6722 for "Temperature Class Ratings".

This International Standard defines terms and specifies requirements and tests for vehicle alarm systems (VAS) intended for installation within buses and commercial vehicles (as defined in ISO 3833) having a maximum authorized total mass (code ISO-M08 as defined in ISO 1176) of greater than 3,5t. It is applicable to VAS designed to detect or sense, and to indicate, the unauthorized opening of a vehicle's doors, luggage-compartment lids, bonnet/hood and emergency exits, as well as the tilting of the driver's cabin and the disconnection of a trailer or of the power supply. It covers both VAS intended for installation as original equipment, and those intended to be installed after delivery of the vehicle. NOTE Systems for volumetric protection, which are optional, have to be tested individually and — as a consequence and in accordance with this International Standard — against their own specifications. Examples of tests that can be performed are given in annex A.

This part of ISO 8820 defines terms and specifies general test requirements for low-voltage fuse-links with a rated voltage of 32 V and a breaking capacity of 1 000 A intended for use in road vehicles at a nominal voltage of 12 V or 24 V. It establishes, for each fuse-link type, the characteristics, construction, operating conditions, marking and test conditions, so that an initial investigation of the fuse-link can be performed. This part of ISO 8820 is intended to be used in conjunction with the other parts of ISO 8820, to which its requirements are applicable except where modified by the particular requirements of another part. It is not applicable to the fuse holders used in the vehicles.

This SAE Recommended Practice applies to both Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and aftermarket route-guidance and navigation system functions for passenger vehicles. This recommended practice provides a method for calculating the time required to complete navigation system-related tasks. These estimates may be used as an aid to assess the safety and usability of alternative navigation and route guidance system interfaces to assist in their design. This document does not consider voice-activated controls, voice output from the navigation system, communication between the driver and others, or passenger operation.

This SAE Recommended Practice is applicable to all light-duty gasoline and diesel passenger vehicles and trucks, and to heavy-duty gasoline vehicles. Specific applications of this document include diagnostic, service and repair manuals, bulletins and updates, training manuals, repair databases, underhood emission labels, and emission certification applications. This document focuses on diagnostic terms applicable to electrical/electronic systems, and therefore also contains related mechanical terms, definitions, abbreviations, and acronyms. Even though the use and appropriate updating of this document is strongly encouraged, nothing in this document should be construed as prohibiting the introduction of a term, abbreviation or acronym not covered by this document. Certain terms have already been in common use and are readily understood by manufacturers and technicians, but do not follow the methodology of this document. To preserve this understanding, these terms were included and have been identified with the footnote, historically acceptable common usage, so they will not erroneously serve as a precedent in the construction of new names. These terms fall into three categories: a. acronyms that do not logically fit the term; b. acronyms existing at the component level, i.e., their terms contain the base word or noun that describes the generic item that is being further defined.; and c. acronyms for terms that appear to contain the base word, but are frequently used as a modifier to another base word. (This use may possibly be thought of as following the methodology since the acronym is normally used as a modifier).)

This document supersedes SAE J1962 FEB1998, and is technically equivalent to ISO/DIS 15031-3:December 14, 2001. This document is intended to satisfy the requirements of an OBD connector as required by U.S. On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) regulations. The diagnostic connection specified in this document consists of two mating connectors, the vehicle connector and the external test equipment connector. This document specifies: a. The functional requirements for the vehicle connector. These functional requirements are separated into four principal areas: connector location/access, connector design, connector contact allocation, and electrical requirements for connector and related electrical circuits; b. The functional requirements for the external test equipment connector. These functional requirements are separated into three principal areas: connector design, connector contact allocation, and electrical requirements for connector and related electrical circuits.

This SAE Recommended Practice defines the blade fuse styles, test conditions, procedures, and performance requirements for use in vehicle electrical power systems designed to the new motor vehicle industry 42 V architecture. The intent of this document is to provide a framework for 58 V Blade Fuse characteristics, serving the motor vehicle industry to establish standardization with respect to electrical performance and mechanical requirements. This standardization shall lend itself to safe application practices; e.g., prevention of 32 V devices utilized inappropriately in 42 V electrical systems. Both the performance and mechanical requirements expressed herein are for the advancement of mobility engineering and the development of safe application practices. They are not intended for the establishment of design exclusions, patent rights, or franchising that engenders restraint of trade.
