This part of ISO 11093 specifies a method for the determination, by the three-point method, of the flexural modulus of cylindrical paper and board cores which meet the following criteria: — internal diameter: 50 mm to 350 mm; — minimum wall thickness: 0,05 × internal diameter, but not less than 10,0 mm; — minimum length of core: 10 × internal diameter, but not less than 1000 mm. If the flexural modulus has to be used for the calculation of a paper core’s natural frequency, ISO 11093-8[2] applies instead of this International Standard.
Paper and board - Testing of cores - Part 7: Determination of flexural modulus by the three-point method
This International Standard specifies a method for the determination of the edgewise compressive strength (ring crush resistance) of paper and paperboard, especially board used in the manufacture of fibreboard shipping containers. This International Standard is applicable to all paper and paperboard with a thickness in the range 100 µm to 580 µm. For samples having a thickness below 280 µm, test values can result from a combination of both buckling failure and pure compression. NOTE For samples having a thickness exceeding 580 µm, strain within the sample arising from bending the test piece into a cylinder might affect the test result (see References [6] and [7] in the Bibliography).

This International Standard specifies two methods for the determination of the flat crush resistance of a corrugating medium after laboratory fluting. The procedures are applicable to any corrugating medium intended to be used after fluting, in the manufacture of corrugated board.

Determines the resistance of surfaces of paper and paperboard to the action of abrasion, either wet or dry, by measuring abrasion loss. This test is not applicable to the surfaces treated with wax or similar materials that would fill in the pores of the abrasive wheels.

This part of ISO 2493 specifies procedures, based on the two-point loading principle, for determining the bending resistance of paper and board. NOTE 1 See ISO 5628[1] for a detailed description of the two-point loading principle. This part of ISO 2493 applies to the measurement of the bending resistance within the range 20 mN to 10 000 mN. It is not applicable to corrugated board but can be applicable to the components of such board. The bending angle is 15° and the bending length is 50 mm. For samples having a bending resistance that is too low to measure with a bending length of 50 mm, a shorter bending length, i.e. 10 mm, can be used. IMPORTANT — The results obtained when using different bending lengths will not be comparable. For boards that tend to be permanently deformed if bent through 15°, the half bending angle, i.e. 7,5°, can be used. NOTE 2 Taber-type testers and testers using the principle of constant rate of deflection do not give comparable results. For this reason, ISO 2493:1992 has been divided into two parts.

This part of ISO 16532 specifies a method for the determination of the grease resistance of paper and board. It provides an accelerated comparison of the relative rates at which oils or greases, such as those commonly found in foodstuffs, can be expected to penetrate voids in papers such as greaseproof or glassine, where the grease or oil resistance is provided by mechanical means only. It is not applicable to grades of paper or board that are given grease or oil resistance by means of a coating or internal treatment for which ISO 16532-1 or ISO 16532-2 apply.
