Key points• The measurements are run simultaneously and independently on two columns filled with the same Lactose monohydratesample.• All the molecular probes are injected at infinite dilution (ID) conditions, namely at zero surface coverage. The retentiontimes (tN) of several n-alkanes probes are measured.• Only at ID conditions the adsorption energy (ΔGa) is directely related to tN by: ΔGa=R.T.Ln(tN.F)+ Cst [1]with F the carrier flow rate, T the measurement temperature, R the gas constant and Cst a constant.• The method proposed by Dorris and Gray is then applied in order to determine the dispersive component of the surfaceenergy ( γ sd ).
