This Recommendation applies to newly manufactured maximum demand indicators Class 1.0 intended to operate as attachments to watthour meters or varhour meters, coupled mechanically thereto and to indicate the maximum of average power, active or reactive, measured during successive equal intervals of time and to their type tests. It applies to the meters only as regards mutual effects between the maximum demand indicators and the meter. Maximum demand indicators of the same class may be attached to watthour meters or varhour meters of different accuracy class. This Recommendation does not apply to maximum demand indicators based on thermal effects, or those operated by impulses, nor to cumulative indicators, intended only for control purposes. The requirements for meters without maximum demand indicators are covered by specific Recommendations — I EC Publication 43, Recommendations for Class 2.0 Alternating Current Watthour Meters; I E C Publication 170, Class 1.0 Alternating Current Watthour Meters; and IEC Publication 145, Class 3.0 Var-hour (reactive energy) Meters. Recommendations for class 0.5 watthour meters are under consideration.
