1.1 These requirements cover enclosures classified with respect to explosion and fire hazard only. These
enclosures are intended for installation and use in hazardous (classified) locations, Class I, Groups A, B, C,
and D, and Class II, Groups E, F, and G, in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.
1.2 A product that contains features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems new or different
from these in use when the Outline of Investigation was developed, and that involves a risk of fire, electric
shock, or injury to persons, shall be evaluated using the appropriate additional component and end-product
requirements as determined necessary to maintain the level of safety for the use of the product as originally
anticipated by the intent of this Outline of Investigation.
