Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) compounds have been identified as agents contributing to the reduction of stratospheric
ozone. It is incumbent upon the electronics industry, as a primary user of CFC solvents, to find alternative
processes and materials which eliminate the need for CFCs. One such alternative is the substitution of
water-soluble fluxes and aqueous cleaning for rosin fluxes and CFC cleaning.
