The World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (Johannesburg, 2008), recognizing the resolutions adopted by this assembly which contain many instructions and implications for the work of the relevant study groups, considering that the mandate for each study group needs to beclearly defined in order to avoid duplication of effort between study groups and to ensure the coherence of the overall work programme of the ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T); that ITU-T has to evolve in order to stay relevant to the changing telecommunication environment and to its membership interests.
