Characterization of Low-Rate Digital Voice Coder Performance with Non-Voice Signals - General Aspects of Digital Transmission Systems Study Group 15; 19 pp
This Recommendation encompasses methods that can be used for quantifying and characterizing the performance of low-rate digital speech codecs with non-voice signals. The signals used are primarily those employed within the telephone network and, consequently, these methods are most appropriate for speech codecs intended for network (as opposed to end-user terminal) applications. The methods presented here can be used to quantify the performance of voice codecs that operate in the telephone band and that employ transmission rates that are less than or equal to 64 kbitfs.
