This specification covers a titanium alloy in the form of sheet, strip, and plate up through 4.000 inches (101.60 mm). These products have been used typically for parts requiring strength up to 800 °F (427 °C) where fracture toughness is not critical. Certain processing procedures and service conditions may cause these products to become subject to stress-corrosion cracking; SAE ARP 982 recommends practices to minimize such conditions.
