This Standard sets out the physical characteristics (mechanical, optical, etc.) for goggles of solar filters, solar protection with zero nominal optical power, other than corrective lenses for eyeglasses and intended to protect against solar radiation for general use, for social and domestic, including transit and driving. This Standard also specifies requirements for filters for direct observation of the sun (eg during an eclipse). A guide to selection and use of these filters is given in Annex E. For glasses and eye protection filters for industrial use solar apply the standards EN 166 and EN 172.
