(a) No certificate holder shall require, nor may any flight crewmember perform, any duties during a criticalphase of flight except those duties required for the safe operation of the aircraft. Duties such as company requiredcalls made for such nonsafety relatedpurposes as ordering galley suppliesand confirming passenger connections,announcements made to passengerspromoting the air carrier or pointingout sights of interest, and filling outcompany payroll and related recordsare not required for the safe operationof the aircraft.
