IEC 61747-1-1:2014 is a generic specification for liquid crystal display devices. It defines general procedures for testing and gives general rules for the measuring methods of the electrical and optical characteristics, the rules for climatic and mechanical tests, and the rules for endurance tests. This first edition cancels and replaces the first edition of IEC 61747-1 published in 1998 and Amendment 1:2003. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: a) IEC 61747-1, has been divided into IEC 61747-1-1, Liquid crystal display devices - Part 1-1: Generic - Generic specification and IEC 61747-1-2, Liquid crystal display devices - Part 1-2: Generic - Terminology and letter symbols; b) the contents of the terminology have been transferred to IEC 61747-1-2; c) Annex C has been changed from normative to informative, because Tables C.1 and C.2 mismatch some of the large scale production practices of recent date; d) References cited have been updated.

IEC 61747-20-1:2015(E) gives the details of testing and provides general rules for visual inspection of the non-active and active area of monochrome liquid crystal display cells by the human eye, if necessary, through an optical microscope. Furthermore this standard includes defect definitions and the methods for visual defect inspection. This first edition cancels and replaces Clause 6 of the first edition of IEC 61747-5 published in 1998. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: a) The editorial modifications were done in accordance with the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2, Ed 6.0:2011. b) The document number was changed to align with the new numbering structure of the IEC 61747 series.

This part of IEC 62908 specifies the methods for testing the environmental durability of touch display modules, touch sensor modules and test pattern cells, and can be used for devices at the production level, the prototype level or the trial model level when they are exposed to environmental stress. This document is applicable for touch displays that use capacitive or resistive detection sensors. It may also be applicable to other types of sensors as well as to touch display modules with both flat and flexible displays.

IEC 62629-12-1:2014 determines the following measuring methods for characterizing the performance of stereoscopic display devices using either active or passive glasses. This standard focuses on the types of stereoscopic displays using glasses as follows: The types of stereoscopic displays reproducing temporally interlaced images and applicable glasses are: - displays representing temporally interlaced (high frame rate) images and active glasses (time dividing shutter glasses), and - displays with front screen switchable polarizer representing temporally interlaced images and linear or circular polarizer passive glasses. The types of stereoscopic displays reproducing spatially interlaced images and applicable glasses are: - displays with patterned retarder representing spatially interlaced images and linear or circular polarizer passive glasses. 1.1 This practice describes methods for measuring the sheet electrical resistance of sputtered thin conductive films deposited on large insulating substrates (glass or plastic), used in making flat panel information displays. 1.2 This practice is intended to be used with Test Methods F673. This practice pertains to a “manual” measurement procedure in which an operator positions the measuring head on the test specimen and then personally activates the test apparatus. The resulting test data may be tabulated by the operator, or, alternatively, sent to a computer-based data logging system. Both Methods I and II of Test Methods F673 (paragraphs 3.1 through 3.3.3 of Test Methods F673) are applicable to this practice. 1.3 Sheet resistivity in the range 0.020 to 3000 Ω per square (sheet conductance in the range 3 by 10–4 to 50 mhos per square) may be measured by this practice. The sheet resistance is assumed to be uniform in the area being probed. NOTE 1—Typical manual test units, as described in this practice, measure and report in the units “mhos per square”; this is the inverse of “ohms per square.” 1.4 This practice is applicable to flat surfaces only. 1.5 This practice is non-destructive. It may be used on production panels to help assure production uniformity. 1.6 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard. 1.7 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
