1.1 This specification covers solvent cement for joining acrylonitrile-butadiene styrene (ABS) plastic pipe and fittings for pressure and nonpressure systems. 1.2 Recommendation for using solvent cement for joining acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) plastic pipe and fittings is given in Appendix X1. 1.1 These test methods cover procedures for assessing the adhesion of relatively ductile coating films to metallic substrates by applying and removing pressure-sensitive tape over cuts made in the film. 1.2 Test Method A is primarily intended for use in the field while Test Method B is more suitable for use in laboratory or shop environments. Also, Test Method B is not considered suitable for films thicker than 125 µm (5 mils) unless wider spaced cuts are employed and there is an explicit agreement between the purchaser and seller. 1.3 These test methods are used to evaluate whether the adhesion of a coating to a substrate is adequate for the user’s application. They do not distinguish between higher levels of adhesion for which more sophisticated methods of measurement are required. 1.4 This test method is similar in content (but not technically equivalent) to ISO 2409. 1.5 In multicoat systems adhesion failure may occur between coats so that the adhesion of the coating system to the substrate is not determined. 1.6 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. 1.1 This specification covers two-part adhesives for bonding foam core sandwich panels. The adhesive may be used for new production or depot maintenance. The adhesive should be suitable for forming bonds that can withstand long-term exposure to temperatures from −55 °C to 93 °C (−67 °F to 200 °F) and also withstand combinations of stress, temperature, and humidity expected to be encountered in service. The guidelines contained within this document can be adopted in full or selectively chosen by the adhesive user to suit the structure concerned. The guidelines provide a flexible framework for the control of adhesive bonding activities in the following cases. Case 1 The provision of specific requirements for adhesive bonding in contracts that require the adhesive user to have a quality system other than ISO 9001. Case 2 The provision of specific requirements for adhesive bonding as guidance to an adhesive user developing a quality system. Case 3 The provision of specific requirements for references in application standards that uses adhesive bonding as part of its requirements or in a contract between relevant parties. 1 Case 4 The provision of a framework for fabrication and reporting procedures to a quality standard, suitable in particular as a basis for the risk evaluation of adhesively bonded structures.
